Monk
Base Class: Monk

The monk have pushed themselves to reach the limit of the body, their discipline striking a wall, yet they seem unable to push past said wall with the limits of their physical might. They need more. They need to tap deeper into a wellspring of power within. Through discipline, they have sharpened their mind, and opened their heart, and still they dig even deeper. There, they have now come to sense a new source of energy that they had not yet harnessed: their own spirit.

Spirits exist everywhere, but also within oneself. And now, having come to attune themselves with their spirit, they have grown to understand how to harness this new energy. A vast reservoir of power that can be drawn out and utilized in order to strengthen oneself and overtake foes.

The Spirit Within

At 3rd level, you draw upon the reservoir of your own spirit, focusing on your five senses to push them to their maximum limit.

Once per Long Rest, you can spend a Ki point to gain the following effects until the next Long Rest.

  • Advantage on Perception and Acrobatic checks.
  • Difficult terrain no longer impedes your walking speed.
  • Gain +2 AC.
  • Gain Temporary HP based on your Monk Level + Proficiency Bonus.

The Spirits of Nature

At 6th level, your spirit has now reached a state where it has opened itself to the spirits of nature itself to further empower you.

At the cost of an Action and 1 Ki point, for 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:

  • When you activate this ability, you may choose 1 Weapon damage type: Slashing, Piercing, or Bludgeoning. You gain resistance to that damage until the ability wears off.
  • You gain an additional Bonus Action.
  • Gain swim speed equal to your walking speed.
  • When you activate this ability, you may choose 1 elemental type: Fire, Cold, or Lightning. Until the ability wears off, Unarmed Strikes will deal an additional 1d6 damage of the element chosen per hit.

If “The Spirit Within” was not active upon using this, the Ki cost would be doubled.

The Cosmic Spirits

At 11th level, you have reached even higher than the material plane, and have now touched on the Astral Plane. The cosmic spirits hold vast power, and now you can tap into that newfound might.

At the cost of a Bonus Action and 2 Ki points, for 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:

  • You can now attack three times, instead of twice, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.
  • You gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed.
  • You can choose two damage types upon activation of this ability: Fire, Cold, Lightning, Radiant, Necrotic, or Psychic. You have resistance to the chosen damage types until the ability ends.
  • Your AC is increased by your Proficiency Bonus.
  • You can choose one damage type upon activation of this ability: Radiant, Necrotic, or Psychic. For the duration of this ability, your Unarmed Strikes will deal an additional 1d6 damage of the chosen type.

If “The Spirit Within” was not active upon using this, the Ki cost would be doubled.

The Primordial Spirit

At 17th level, there is something deeper than even the cosmos, and you have now opened your spirit to take in a primordial power that has granted you phenomenal power.

At the cost of an Action, Bonus Action, and 3 Ki points, for 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:

  • Your Weapon attacks can now count as Unarmed Strikes for the purpose of effects from "Spirits of Nature", "Cosmic Spirit", and "Primordial Spirit".
  • The number you need to roll a Critical Hit while attacking is reduced by 1. This effect can stack.
  • Unarmed Strikes are now able to fire at a range of 60 ft and will cause a 20 ft circular explosion from the center of impact. Creatures who succeed in Dexterity saving throw may reduce damage by half.
  • The bonus 1d6 damage is now 1d10.

If “The Spirit Within” was not active upon using this, the Ki cost would be doubled.
