These bards channel the deep sorrow of loss and the haunting beauty of melancholy in their art. Their art weave a tapestry of emotions, granting solace to allies and instilling despair in foes, while echoing the lament of spirits and forlorn whispers of the departed. In their hands, sorrow becomes a tool to shape the battlefield, offering strength and protection born from shared grief. 

Melancholic Inspiration

Upon joining the College of Mourning at 3rd level, you discover the ability to infuse your bardic art with a mournful essence that fortifies your allies in battle. 

Whenever you give a creature a Bardic Inspiration die, the creature also gains temporary hit points equal to your charisma modifier. 

Elegy of the Fallen

Starting at 3rd level, your art can respond to the fall of allies or enemies alike. As a reaction, when a creature within 30 feet of you is reduced to 0 hit points, you can perform a brief elegy of your choice.

You can perform this feature a number of times equal to your charisma modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses after a long rest. 

Elegy of Hope

Allies within range gain a bonus to their next attack roll, ability check, or saving throw equal to your charisma modifier. 

Elegy of Despair

Enemies take a penalty to their next attack roll, ability check, or saving throw equal to your charisma modifier.

Veil of Sorrow

At 6th level, your art can create a palpable aura of sorrow. As a bonus action, you can expend a use of your Bardic Inspiration to create a 30-foot radius aura, centered on yourself, lasting for 1 minute, or until your are incapacitated. Within this aura, enemies have disadvantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened. Allies in the aura gain advantage on wisdom and intelligence checks saving throws.

This feature can be used once per short or long rest.

Dirge of Despair

Beginning at 14th level, you can channel your deepest grief into a haunting dirge. As an action, you affect all creatures within a 30-foot radius. Enemies must make a wisdom saving throw, or become frightened for 1 minute on a failed save. This effect requires concentration, as if concentrating on a spell.

As a bonus action during this performance, you can end it early to unleash a burst. 

This feature can be used once per long rest. 

Burst of Anguish

You release of wave of sorrow that inflicts psychic damage on enemies, within the radius, that are frightened. They take psychic damage equal to a number of d6 equal to half your bard level (rounded down).

Burst of Solace

You transform your sorrow into a wave of comforting energy that heal allies within the area. Roll a number of d6 equal to half your bard level (rounded down); each ally in range regains a number of hit points equal to the total rolled.
