Base Class: Monk
In the far-flung cloisters of the Way of Unfettered Ripples, monks harness the power of calm, embracing a philosophy that eschews swift and chaotic movements. These statue-monks teach their disciples to find strength in tranquility, viewing gentle motion or the total absence thereof as a conduit for the cultivation of life energy itself.
Unfettered Ripples Technique
3rd-level Way of Unfettered Ripplesfeature
When you end your turn, you gain 1 additional reaction for each 25 feet of movement you have remaining, which can't be used to make an attack of opportunity. As normal, a reaction you haven't used is lost when you start your turn. While you have a reaction remaining, any distance you are pushed or pulled is reduced by your Unarmored Movement.
Equal and Opposite
3rd-level Way of Unfettered Ripples feature
When you are hit by a melee weapon attack, you can use your reaction to reduce the damage by 1d10 + your monk level. If you reduce the damage to 0, you can expend 1 ki point to produce one of the following effects:
Placid
6th-level Way of Unfettered Ripples feature
Your monk features that reduce the damage of weapon attacks can also reduce the damage of spell attacks, as well as damage from an effect that forces only you to make a Strength or Dexterity saving throw; you use your Equal and Opposite when the save's source is within your reach, or Deflect Missiles when it originates outside your reach. If you catch an effect other than an attack this way and make a ranged attack with it, on a hit the target automatically fails its first saving throw against the effect. When you reduce an attack or effect's damage to 0, the attack misses the target instead, or its save succeeds.
Quell the Ripple
11th-level Way of Unfettered Ripples feature
Your mere presence suffuses the area around you with defiant quietude. You gain the following benefits:
- You can use monk features that reduce an attack or effect's damage even when the target is one or more creatures within 15 feet of you.
- When you reduce an attack's damage, you cause the attacker to suffer the effects of compelled duel against you for the next minute.
- You can't be prevented from taking reactions by conditions except petrified or unconscious, or by spells and other effects that target you, such as slow.
Unfathomable Depths
17th-level Way of Unfettered Ripples feature
You don't expend ki points to catch and throw an attack or effect using your Deflect Missiles feature, nor to damage or grapple a creature with your Equal and Opposite feature.
Once you reduce an attack or effect's damage, the attacker has a penalty to damage rolls equal to half your monk level until the start of your next turn.
