Base Class: Warlock
You’ve made a pact with a creature, entity, or collective that desires more. What it wants more of is defined by the being itself, but this greed drives them to give powers to mortals. Some mortals enter these agreements willingly hoping for this wealth to trickle down to them, others owe the being a great amount and are working off their own depths, and the fortunate ones have an item that the being wants in exchange for their power. Beings of this type include dragons, the demon lord Mammon, Fire Giants, Dao genies, and Nagas.

Gilded Arcana
At 1st level, you manifest an aspect of your patron’s greed. As a bonus action, you may transform for 1 minute. You gain the following benefits while transformed:
- You gain the ability to sense the presence and location of gold pieces and items within 30ft. This ability can penetrate most barriers, but is clocked by 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal, a thin sheet of lead, or 3 feet of wood or dirt.
- Once per turn, when you deal damage to a creature with a cantrip or a spell slot provided by pact magic, you can force it to make a Charisma saving throw. On a failed save the creature loses gold equal to twice the amount of the damage done, half of this gold goes to your patron and you receive the remainder.
- As an action, you may pay your patron to allow you to cast a spell without using a spell slot. The cost to do this is 100 gold per spell level. You must know the spell and is of a spell level that you can cast.
You can transform a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
The appearance of your Gilded Arcana reflects some aspect of your patron’s greed. For example, your form could be your skin gleams with golden scales for a draconic patron, or multicolored gemstone powders swirls around your spells and abilities for a Genies.
Curse of the Coin
At 6th level, you can beseech your patron to curse those that can no longer pay their debts from your Gilded Arcana. Once per short rest, when a creature fails their Charisma saving throw from your Gilded Arcana ability and they do not have enough gold to pay your patron, it is cursed with one of the following effects of your choice:
- If the creature attempts to use a magic item to cast a spell it must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the target does not cast their spell and if they fail by 5 or more the spell slot or charges are consumed.
- When the creature makes an attack with a magic weapon and misses by 5 or more, the target loses their action and drops their weapon.
- If the target is wearing magical clothing or armor, at the start of the target’s turn, it must make a Strength saving throw. On a failed save, the target falls prone and if they fail by 5 or more their movement speed is reduced to 0 feet.
- The creature makes all Charisma ability checks and saving throws with disadvantage with disadvantage. All insight checks made against the creature are made with advantage.
- The creature has disadvantage on saving throws to resist being charmed or frightened. Creatures that are immune to being charmed or frightened lose their immunity but roll with advantage on saving throws to resist being charmed or frightened.
This effect ends when the creature repays the patron in full. The creature can use their action to offer the creature gold, magical items, or other material goods to end this effect. The effect can also be ended early with the Remove Curse or Wish spells.
Insurance Policy
At 10th level, your patron acknowledges your worth and will extend your life in exchange for magical items. When you are reduced to 0 hit points, you can use your reaction to give up a magic item to your patron to regain some hit points. The number of hit points you regain depends on the item’s rarity:
- Single use and common magic items restores 1 hit point.
- Uncommon magic items restores 10 hit points.
- Rare magic items restores 25 hit points.
- Very rare magic items restores 50 magic items.
If the magic item has charges, the item emits a magical blast when consumed. All other creatures within a 30 foot radius of you must make a Dexterity saving throw, on a failed save taking 1d4 force damage for each unused charge, half on a success. You cannot use this ability again until you finish a long rest.
Golden Years
At 14th level, your patron allows you to use your Gilded Arcana in new ways. When you use your Gilded Arcana ability, you may choose one of the following abilities that lasts for its duration:
- When a creature fails their Charisma saving throw from your Gilded Arcana ability, your patron allows you to collect all of the gold.
- As a reaction to taking damage, you may reduce the amount of damage you take by 1 for every 10 gold that you pay.
- When using gold to pay your patron to cast a spell, the spell cannot be countered, if there is a spell attack it is made with advantage, and if there is a spell save it is made with disadvantage.
