Base Class: Rogue
Historically, a Powder Jockey is usually a young boy responsible for maintaining and moving the black powder and cannon shot aboard a ship. As these children grew up, their knowledge of powder and firearms allowed them to become expert gunners and cannoneers. Creative use of black powder and the eventual evolution of firearms were pioneered by these individuals making them vital to teams who regularly use firearms.
Jockey see, Jockey do
Starting at 3rd level:
Having watched hundreds of firearms discharged, the powder jockey has seen enough firearms to know how to use even the most cutting edge firearms. The rogue gains proficiency in firearms.
Improvised Grenades
Starting at 3rd level:
Knowledge of powder has created uses for it beyond the use within firearms. Mixed with other ingredients, black powder can produce interesting, debilitating results. The powder jockey can create three types of grenade to use. At level 3, you can choose one type, at level 9 you can choose a second and at level 13 you can choose the third. Because of the resources needed, you can only create and use a few of each type per day.
Fragmentation Grenade
A grenade packed with both powder and shot designed to launch multiple projectiles in all directions.
Phosphorous Grenade
A twin-chambered grenade designed to ignite both the powder and the phosphorous in an explosion of blinding light.
Smoke Grenade
This cast iron grenade is designed to funnel all ignited powder into a cloud obscuring vision in the area. Creatures are blinded while within the cloud and cannot see through the cloud unless by magical means. The smoke remains for 1 minute and can only be moved early by a strong wind.
Powder Inspector
The powder jockey has seen enough powder to recognize good powder. The powder jockey examines the group's black powder permanently reducing the Misfire score for all firearms by 1 to a minimum of 1.
Improvised Bomb
Starting at level 13:
The Powder Jockey can store all leftover powder and shot inside of a barrel, creating a makeshift bomb. This barrel can either be thrown, rolled, or hidden on the battlefield. The barrel is heavy and would require a strength check to lift or throw. This bomb can be made once per day and must be used within 24 hours or the powder will fail to ignite.
Mechanus Automotaus
Starting at level 17:
The powder jockey have pioneered black powder firearms to their apex. The powder jockey has constructed an automatic powder dispersion system for each firearm eliminating their Reload property making it zero. This applies to all firearms except for the Bad News Wheel-Lock and the Hand Cannon.
