Wizard
Base Class: Wizard

Most scholars, sages, and magic users find knowledge in the written word. You, on the other hand, find enlightenment in the mathematical equations and theorems that govern the world around you.  As a wizard of the School of Matematica, you strive to understand (and manipulate) the mathematical laws that govern the path, shape, and power of magic.

Matematica Savant

Beginning when you select this school at 2nd level, the gold and time you must spend to copy a projectile or area spell into your spellbook is halved.

Fundamental Theorem of Curves

At 2nd level when you choose this school, the natural curvature of space starts to make sense to you. You can now manipulate the trajectory of projectile spells. Creatures that you target behind half cover no longer receive the benefits of being partially obscured.

At 6th level, this improves to affect creatures behind three-quarters cover.

Fundamental Theorem of Polysurfaces

Beginning at 6th level, your understanding of planar and solid shapes grows. You are able to alter the shape of any area spell to suit your needs. Declare whether the shape of the spell is a cone, cube, cylinder, line, or sphere before casting.

Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic

Starting at 10th level, when you cast a 1st or 2nd level spell at a higher level, you can also cast the spell at its original level. This second spell does one d2 less damage than its original form and does not require additional components.

For example, a wizard that successfully casts Witch Bolt at 5th level does 5d12 of damage plus an extra 1d10 of damage.

Fundamental Theorem of Differences

Starting at 14th level, you can use your knowledge of magic to alter the outcome of an attack roll, saving throw, or ability check. This can be used on rolls made by you, your allies, or attackers. Instead of using the number rolled, use the difference of that number when it is subtracted from 20.

For instance, if you roll a 3 for a Dexterity saving throw, you can use this feature to turn that roll into a 17. You would then add all additional bonuses to the new number. This feature cannot be used to alter a critical success or a critical failure.

The number of times you can use this feature per long rest is equal to your proficiency modifier.
