Base Class: Sorcerer
Your power draws from a deep understanding and respect for the cold. Your mind and body have adapted to not only survive, but thrive, in its harsh embrace. Some might even venture a guess that your heart itself is frozen. Perhaps you were born here, alone in the frost-bitten wastes, forced to learn how to harness your environment or die. Maybe you, or an ancestor, received some blessing from a frozen spirit or are Auril's chosen. Perhaps you intentionally sort out great power and studied the great Fey, Beasts, or Dragons who call this dominion their own.
However you obtained your powers, your connection to the relentless cold has manifested within you.
Frozen Soul Quirks (d6)
- 1) You absentmindedly extinguish all small fires.
- 2) Your skin is ice cold to the touch.
- 3) You cannot eat hot food. Everything must be cold or even frozen.
- 4) Your hands and fingers are blackened and look frostbitten, a mark of the first time your power manifested.
- 5) A layer of frost forms around you while you sleep.
- 6) You bleed very little and the blood soon freezes.
Frozen Heart
After years in the frozen wastes, you are more adapted to the environment and are perfectly comfortable in cold climates. At 1st level, frozen environments, such as snow, mountains, and ice, do not count as difficult terrain for you or your party. You also gain resistance to cold damage.
Additionally, through your understanding of cold magics, you able to cast ray of frost as a bonus action at the cost of 1 sorcery point.
Mantle Of Ice
Starting at 1st level, you can unleash the frozen storm within you. As a bonus action, you magically wreathe your body and the area around it with swirling ice, causing sections of you to become layered in frost. For 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:
-
Each of your steps covers the ground beneath you in ice. This allows you to walk over water and other liquid or oil surfaces without trouble.
-
Any creature takes cold damage equal to your Charisma modifier if it hits you with a melee attack from within 5 feet of you or if it touches you.
-
Whenever you roll cold damage on your turn, the roll gains a bonus equal to your Charisma modifier.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
Winds Of Winter
Starting at 6th level, the freezing energy within you grows restless and vengeful. In the face of defeat, it surges outward in a violent roar of icy wind.
If you are reduced to 0 hit points, you can use your reaction to draw on the winds of Winter to stave off death. You are instead reduced to 1 hit point, and each creature within 10 feet of you takes cold damage equal to your Charisma modifier and, if the creature is Large or smaller, is pushed back 10 feet. If you use this feature while under the effects of your Mantle of Ice, this feature instead deals cold damage equal to double your Charisma modifier, and pushes foes back 20 feet. Then your Mantle of Ice immediately ends.
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
Soothing Ice
Starting at 14th level, your ice spells soothe you and repair any open wounds. When you expend a spell slot to cast a spell that includes a cold damage roll, you regain hit points equal to the slot’s level + your Charisma modifier.
Additionally, you now have an even greater understanding of cold magics and can cast cone of cold as a bonus action at the cost of 6 sorcery points.
Harbinger Of Ice
At 18th level, you have finally mastered the swirling ice storm within you and can now harness its true power. While under the effect of your Mantle of Ice feature your skin glows a pale blue and a pair of a cryophoenix wings made of pure ice form behind you. You also gain additional benefits:
-
You have a flying speed of 40 feet and can hover.
-
You have resistance to all damage and immunity to cold damage.
-
If you use your Winds Of Winter, creatures are pushed back a further 10 feet and must make a CON save or be stunned until the end of your next turn. Additionally, you restore 5 hit points for every creature that fail this save. Creatures made of fire do not make this save.
