Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

A barbarian who takes the risks of intoxication and turns them into advantages for themselves.

Drunken Power

The barbarian harnesses the power of alcohol to strengthen his attacks when drunk. While the barbarian is suffering from the poisoned status effect which was gained through drinking alcohol, in addition to all of the effects of poisoned, they gain an extra die of damage from their melee weapon or unarmed attacks that use strength. This bonus damage is of the same type as the attack damage. The bonus die is a d6 at 3rd level, a d8 at 6th level, a d10 at 10th level, and a d12 at 14th level. You do not have disadvantage on Athletics (STR) checks when intoxicated.

What toxin?

The Drunken Rager is so accustomed to the effects of toxins from their excessive drinking that it is second nature to be under its effects. Class effects apply when under any form of poisoned, not just from alcohol. Whenever the Rager is poisoned by any means, they can use a reaction to enter a rage before any other effects (including damage) are applied to them. This counts against rage limits, and functions like any rage that was started at the beginning of their next turn. The Drunken Rager gains immunity to poison damage.

Ignorance is Bliss

The Drunken Rager gains extra toughness when they are intoxicated. When the Drunken Rager is intoxicated, they gain expertise in constitution saving throws. They also no longer have disadvantage on attack rolls made with strength when they are intoxicated.

Bottom of the Bottle

The Drunken Rager looks for answers at the bottom of their bottle. When they are intoxicated, they have half-proficiency on wisdom checks if they do not have proficiency already due to the wisdom found there. They also have resistance to poison damage, and can choose to fail a constitution saving throw to get drunk.
