Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Able to channel their rage into a sophisticated flow of precision and speed in combat, those of the Temporal Refinement path bring grace to the chaos of battle.

Rift

Your rage is honed and tempered as you learn to harness your anger into a focused fighting style. At 3rd Level a Temporal Refinement Barbarian can activate Rift as a bonus action using their Temporal Key, causing a Tear in the space around them that alters time in their surrounding area.

Time slows down around you in a 15 foot radius, you gain 15 feet of movement speed and any other creatures in your aura must make a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw. On a failed attempt, they move at half speed while Rift is active and can't make reactions. Hostile creatures who fail the saving throw also have disadvantage on attack rolls against you.

While the rift is open, you have advantage on all attack rolls while targeting creatures within the rift if you aren’t wearing heavy armor.

If you are able to cast spells, you can’t cast them or concentrate on them during this time.

Your Rift lasts for 1 minute. It ends early if you are knocked unconscious or if you take more than half of your current hit points in a single round. You can also end your Rift on your turn as a bonus action.

Once you have used Rift the number of times shown for your barbarian level in the Rages column of the Barbarian table, you must finish a long rest before you can rage again.

The effects of Relentless Rage and Persistent Rage also apply to Rift.

At Higher Levels: When you progress on your path, the saving throw DC of Rift increases to 16 at Level 10 and 18 at Level 17.

This feature replaces Rage for this subclass.

Temporal Tinkering

As you follow the Path of Temporal Refinement, you learn the arcane art of crafting Temporal Artifacts.

You gain proficiency in Tinker's Tools, and can spend 4 hours crafting a Temporal Artifact when it becomes available to you. You must have a rod of metal of your choosing, a crystal and material to affix it to your person (traditionally a chain or leather cord).

Key

Starting at Level 3, you can smelt a Temporal Key that can be worn anywhere on your person (traditionally around the neck on a chain or cord) and made of any metal of your choosing. It is considered similar to a spellcasting focus as you need a free hand to activate it.

Chronurgy magic is laced into it and when turned into an open space around you, triggers your Rift ability, unlocking a tear in time.

Lens

At Level 6 your study of Temporal Artifacts uncovers the process of how to refine raw materials and Chronurgy magic into a Temporal Lens. Your lens can be affixed to a frame of your choosing (traditionally glasses or a monocle), worn anywhere on your person, and the frame can be made of any metal of your choosing. It is considered similar to a spellcasting focus as you need a free hand to activate it.

The Lens can be peered into to designate a point in space within range and initiate your Reality Break ability.

Pocketwatch

When you reach Level 10 in this class, you ascertain the knowledge of how to construct a Temporal Pocketwatch. Your Pocketwatch can be worn anywhere on your person attached with a chain and made of any metal of your choosing. It is considered similar to a spellcasting focus as you need a free hand to activate it.

The gears inside are spelled with Chronurgic spellwork and it is used to activate your Rewind ability by opening the casing and releasing the magic within to alter the timeline.

Reality Break

Equipped with you Temporal Lens, you can see alternate realities where you exist in another space than the one you currently occupy.

The Lens can be pointed at a spot you can see within 60 feet that is unoccupied, and when looked through, can pull reality in that space to you. From your perspective, everything you can see will shift as if dragged towards your position and you will end up in the space you were viewing, leaving nothing in the space you just left. From an outside viewpoint, you will merely vanish from one spot and appear at another.

You can use this feature once per short rest.

Rewind

Arcane knowledge of Chronurgy magic and the study of it's effects has led you to discover another function for your Temporal Pocketwatch.

You may spend 1 hour tinkering with your watch to alter it's inner workings and allow them to momentarily spin backwards, reversing the flow of time.

As a reaction when you are hit with an attack, you can click a button on the side of your watch to revert to a time before the attack and attempt to avoid it. Roll a Dexterity saving throw against the attacker's roll and add 3 + your proficiency bonus. If your roll is higher, you successfully evade the attack.

You can use this feature twice per long rest.

Manners Maketh Man

As a fastidious and upstanding personality, you know how to deal with people of all classes, backgrounds and creeds. You also won't stand for disrespect or a lack of decorum, in society or in battle.

At 14th Level you gain Expertise in Persuasion, able to use your cleverness to beguile anyone from the most pious priest to the least civilized goblin.

You also know how to invoke your own brand of justice on those who have wronged you. You remark on their wrongdoings and offer them a lesson in etiquette. As a bonus action on your turn, you may target up to 3 creates you can see and mark them for Edification. Those marked by you have disadvantage on attack rolls against anyone other than you. Treat any attack rolls on marked targets of 18 or higher as a critical hit.

You can use this feature once per long rest.
