Base Class: Bard
A musician sweeps into the local tavern on the wind to make a bit of coin for the night, only to vanish after starting a brawl, never to be heard from again.
Bards from the College of Shadows are an enigma, and alter their path moment to moment. They emerge from the mist long enough to get what they want, and disappear into a new face, a new name, or a new life as quickly as the door closes at their back.
Masquerade
College of Shadows bards are taught the ancient secrets of arcane masks used to change their persona at a moment's notice.
You know the art of maskcraft and can create a mask of your own design that instantly changes how you look and sound. When you don the mask, you can change your appearance and your voice. You determine the specifics of the changes, including your coloration, hair length, and sex. You can also adjust your height and weight and can change your size between Medium and Small. You can make yourself appear as a member of another race, though none of your game statistics change. You must adopt a form that has the same basic arrangement of limbs that you have. Your clothing and equipment aren’t changed by this feature.
You stay in the new form until you remove the mask and revert to your true form or until you die.
Phantom Recovery
The ability to cause chaos while hidden is an art form you know well, and so is providing aid to your allies from the shade.
Starting at 17th level, when you are hidden and would normally roll one or more dice to restore hit points with a spell, you instead use the highest number possible for each die. For example, instead of restoring 2d6 hit points to a creature, you restore 12.
Bardic Demoralization
When a creature that you can see within 60 feet of you makes an attack roll or saving throw, you can use your reaction to expend one of your uses of Bardic Inspiration to impose disadvantage on the roll. You can choose to use this feature after the creature makes its roll, but before the DM determines whether the attack roll or saving throw succeeds or fails. The creature is immune if it can’t hear you or if it’s immune to being charmed.
Obscura
Most bards are known for standing out in a crowd, whether it's a rousing performance or their larger than life personalities, but this is your antithesis as a member of the College of Shadows.
You use your particular set of skills to disappear from sticky situations or to gain entry into places you shouldn't be. You gain Expertise in Stealth and learn the pass without trace spell.
Umbral Onslaught
A master of striking from the shadows, you become a deadly when attacking unsuspecting foes, attempting to break their resolve.
You gain the ability to hide as a bonus action, and when you hit on a ranged weapon or spell attack on a target while successfully hidden, add 3d6 psychic damage.
