Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

No Greater Life than a Life Lived Free. One should act according to their own beliefs. All people can be redeemed, but not all are so lucky.

Trust the Fates. The guidance of our mother above always brings people to their logical end. Pain is simply the fuel for ultimate happiness.

Seek Change. The Moon constantly causes the waters of the ocean to shift around any obstacle or become an impassable one. They can carve around and reveal the secrets of the past or swallow the truth and hide it forever. To embrace this fluidity is to understand that nothing lasts forever.

Soothe the Ailing. The world is filled with great pain, a fundamental part of life that cannot be ignored. Our mission is to soothe the pain of others, and in that mission we find our own reprieve.

Oath Spells

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed in the Oath of the Open Seas Spells table. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how oath spells work.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Moon Light. As an action you can channel the power of the moon into your weapon. It counts as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance, is considered a "moon-touched" weapon, and sheds 60ft of dim light. While holding this weapon, you can take the hide action and move spells that can normally be moved as a bonus action. These effects last until you target a different weapon with your channel divinity, or if the weapon leaves your possession for over an hour.

Night Form. As an action, you may hold up your holy symbol and channel the power of the moon into your body as a ward for an hour. The ward envelops you, has hit points equal to your paladin level x5, and emanates 5ft of dim light. At the start of your turn if you are in direct moonlight, your ward may recover up to your paladin level in hit points. Whenever you take damage, the ward takes the damage instead. If this damage reduces the ward to 0 hit points, you take any remaining damage. If you are holding a moon-touched weapon while night form is active, the weapon is considered invisible.

Aura of Nightfall

Starting at 7th level, you emanate an aura while you’re not incapacitated. Any invisibility of your choice within the area can't be detected with special sights, and creatures of your choice within can hide from creatures who can see them as long as they are within the aura's radius.

When you reach 18th level in this class, the range of the aura increases to 30 feet.

Moonlit Path

At 15th level, your steps and reactions emulate grace. While moving, a trail of temporary moonlight follows behind you generating a negligible amount of light. However you can use this light to trick your foes to your true location, sending it a different way from you. As a result, when you deal damage from an invisible source, the attack cannot have disadvantage, and if the source has a saving throw, it is made at disadvantage. Finally, when you hit a creature with your moon-touched weapon, you may also call down a moonbeam upon them, centered on them that does not require your concentration. The moonbeam is treated as if it is upcast to a level equal to your paladin level divided by 2 (at 20th level, a 10th level moonbeam). If you make a second moonbeam, the first one disappears.

Mystic of the Moon

At 20th level, you learn to channel the unabated power of the moon into your body. As an action, you may call down a moonbeam centered upon yourself at a spell level equal to your paladin level. Your moonlight path moonbeam also grows to become equal to your paladin level. This moonbeam does require your concentration. While concentrating on it, any creature who hits you with a melee attack counts as entering the beam's area, and if you take damage from the beam, that damage also refills your night form barrier, if it is active. If you successfully hide from a creature while they are within your aura, your moonbeams also escape their detection; they cannot see the beam or tell it's location (but they are aware of damage taken). If a Creature fails the saving throw against your moonbeam within the reach of your moon-touched weapon, you may fill that weapon with the power of stars, spraying it over the creature. This applies the spell faerie fire applied to them (no concentration needed) as they are speckled with stars. While active, they have a -5 to all saving throws against invisible effects, and a -5 AC against invisible attacks.
