Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

TENETS OF OBEDIENCE

The Oath of Obedience places fidelity, consistency, and reliability above all else. In other words, these paladins are pledged to Lawfulness itself. The rule of order sheds light on the darkness of chaos, though it is up to the paladin whether that light is from holy rays or from the fires of damnation.

UNWAVERING. Your deference to the one you serve, whether a god, mortal, or code, is total. Their words are your law, and to defy them is blasphemy.

UNREPENTANT. Take solace in your commitment to order. Do not seek penance for even the darkest of commands you are sworn to execute.

UNSULLIED. Be wise, paladin, in choosing the one to whom you pledge yourself. A promise to obey chaotic forces is no better than disobedience.

UNSTOPPABLE. All those who attempt to stay your exacting hand shall be stricken down.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Bind the Wayward. As an action, you utter a litany of submission, using your channel divinity. Each hostile creature that can see or hear you within 30 feet of you must make a Wisdom saving throw. Chaotic-aligned creatures have disadvantage on this saving throw.

If the creature fails its saving throw, its movement speed is dropped to 0 for 1 minute or until it takes damage. On a successful save, the creature’s speed is halved for 1 minute or until it takes damage.

Armor of the Votary. As a bonus action, you clad yourself in the certainty of your oath, using your Channel Divinity. For 1 minute, you add your Charisma modifier to your armor class.

You can end this effect on your turn as part of any other action. This effect ends if you fall unconscious or fail a save against being Charmed, Frightened, or Paralyzed.

Oath Spells

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed.

Oath of Devotion Spells

Steadfast Soul

Starting at 7th level, you can’t be charmed while you are conscious by any creature.

If you have sworn obedience to a sentient being, this being maintains the ability to charm you.

Punitive Vessel

Starting at 15th level, your adherence to your oath imbues you with fury against those who disobey you.

When a creature makes a successful save against one of your Oath spells, you can use your reaction to make a weapon attack against that creature if it is within range.

Conduit of Pure Will

At 20th level, you can empty yourself in service of the creed or creature you serve, taking on an appearance you choose. For example, your voice might echo with the voices of those you obey, or the set of laws you obey might appear written across your flesh.

Using your action, you undergo a transformation. For 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:

  • You can cast Command at first level as a bonus action and without consuming a spell slot.
  • Enemy creatures within 10 feet of you have disadvantage on saving throws against your paladin spells and Channel Divinity options.
  • You cannot be moved by force or Restrained.
