Base Class: Blood Hunter
A shadow is nothing; except the absence of light. There are many things like shadows that despite being quite real, have no true form. Changelings, oozes, and even the very air itself are all echos of a greater power, residing on the plane where echos reside: The Shadow Garden. Denizens of the Shadow Garden are without form, and their tools shape to match their every whim. With enough power, any can draw upon this amazing power and flexibility.
Rite of the Infinite
When you join this order at 3rd level, you learn the Rite of the Infinite as part of your Crimson Rite feature. When you activate the Rite of the Infinite, the extra damage dealt by your rite is force damage. Additionally, while that rite is active on your weapon, you gain the following benefits:
- Your weapon is coated in formless magic, transforming it into another melee weapon you are proficient with. It's traits and damage dice all change over to that weapon's, leaving only the weapon's separate effects, such as buffs, magical effects and enchantments, curses, and other similar effects.
- Your formless magic bonds the weapon to your body, whenever it appears to be flesh, blood, water, slime, or any other amorphous, flexible material is up to you. While bonded, you cannot be disarmed, and you can use a free action once on each of your turns to select a different melee weapon from the one selected above.
- If you are wielding a shield you are proficient with, you may incorporate it into your rite, allowing you to gain the armor class bonus while leaving your hand free with formless magic. However, that hand still cannot wield equipment such as weapons, another shield or a spellcasting focus (you can still only benefit from the armor class of a shield once, regardless of the number of shields you are holding).
Amorphous Armor
Starting at 3rd level, you gain the power to infuse formless magic into your armor, giving you the power to make armor out of anything without a definite form. This changed armor can only be worn by you. As an action, you may transform armor into another set of armor you have proficiency in. While you wear that armor (other creatures do not gain these benefits), you gain the following effects:
- That armor lacks a penalty on stealth rolls. While wearing it, you can apply your full Dexterity modifier, unless it is heavy armor (including serpent scale armor).
- You gain the Amorphous Quality: You can squeeze through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide, along with any equipment that has formless magic on it you are wearing or carrying.
- You may add a hood to that armor. With the hood on, your face may be lightly obscured from onlookers, and you may change your hair or eye color while it is on.
Ghost Spear
Upon reaching 7th level, you can collect formless magic in order to strike out with precision at a single target.
When you hit with your rite active, you may expend a bonus action to fire off a Ghost Spear at another creature within 30ft of you. Use your hemocraft modifier for the attack and damage roll, as well as the base damage dice. If that spear hits, you can move to within 5 feet of them without expending any movement or provoking any opportunity attack. You are considered proficient with the ghost spear if you are proficient with spears.
As a reaction when you would be hit by a weapon that can be disarmed, you may make a contested attack roll against their attack roll using your ghost spear. On a success, they drop the weapon, and that attack deals the damage of an unarmed attack instead. Once you use this feature, you must finish a short or long rest before you can use it again. You can use Ghost Spear twice between rests starting at 15th level.
Formless Forms
Starting at 11th level, you learn a number of formless fighting styles for fighting with formless weapons. These styles are applies whenever you wield the style matched with the base damage type of the weapon at hand. If the weapon's base type strays from the ones below, you gain the mysterious and often reviled Xeno style.
Alpha Form (Slashing): Once per turn, when you miss with an attack roll, you may reroll the attack at another creature in your reach.
Beta Form (Piercing): Your Ghost spears and weapon attacks are so fast, they cannot be seen, as if your target were Blinded.
Delta Form (Bludgeoning): You are able to shift the weight of your weapon for attacking and defending; as a reaction to an attack, you can add your proficiency bonus to your armor class. If that attack misses, you may make one weapon attack of your own.
Xeno Form (Other): Once per turn, you may extend the reach of your weapon 30 additional feet for one attack roll.
Flexile Body
At 15th level, you hone your formless magic into your body and equipment; all of your worn and carried equipment has formless magic upon it (works with the amorphous trait), and can be removed or donned as a free action on your turn. When you use your Amorphous trait, you can remove the grappled and restrained condition from yourself.
In addition, whenever you hit a creature with an attack roll, you may attach your formless magic to that creature, like a thread from you to them. While attached, that creature can only be 30ft away from you or less at all times; if they attempt to move further, make a contested check (strength for moving by walking, dexterity for moving by other options like flying, and spellcasting vs hemocraft modifier if moving with magic) whichever creature succeeds is not forced to move, and the other is forcibly moved to stay within range. The thread is invisible, and can only be severed if you choose to do so, or with 10 force damage dealt directly to it by an attack roll.
Shadow Garden
Upon reaching 18th level, you learn to bring the full power of the shadow garden to the real world; As an action, you spread the shadow garden, starting with you, in a 90ft radius. While inside of this radius, you are considered to be within a different plane (even without traveling there) Effects originating from outside the plane cannot carry inside of it, but creatures and attacks may pass. While on this plane, choose 2 of five potential options:
- Formless energy imbues the radius, infecting any mundane items that are not worn or carried; they separate, crumbling into small pieces. When the Shadow Garden ends, they reform as they were before.
- Gravity ceases to affect creature or objects within. Creatures float as if they were under the effects of the Spell Levitate
- Thick, see through magic-like walls fill the area, granting 3/4ths cover on attacks unless the attacker has the Amorphous trait
- All attacks from any creature within the area can deal damage of any type, but always deal a single type of damage.
- All effects, except the effect of Shadow Garden itself, have their radiuses or other areas halved.
Shadow Garden lasts an amount of hours equal to your hemocraft modifier.
