Base Class: Wizard
The School of Inkweaving represents a fusion of arcane magic and the ancient art of tattooing. Wizards who follow this path, known as Inkweavers, specialize in inscribing spells directly onto their skin and that of others, manifesting magical effects through intricate tattoos. Through years of study and practice, Inkweavers master the delicate balance between artistry and sorcery, creating potent spells woven into the very fabric of their being.
At the heart of the School of Inkweaving lies the belief that magic is not only a force to be wielded but also an art to be crafted. Inkweavers see each tattoo as a canvas upon which they paint their spells, infusing them with their own creativity and power. They view their bodies as living grimoires, adorned with a tapestry of magical symbols that serve as conduits for their arcane abilities.
Ink Mastery
You gain proficiency with tattooing supplies and calligraphy tools. Additionally, you learn the Prestidigitation cantrip if you don't already know it.
Arcane Ink
You can expend a spell slot to inscribe a magical tattoo onto yourself or another willing creature. The tattoo can hold a spell of a level equal to or less than the expended spell slot. Once inscribed, the tattoo acts as a spell scroll. The spell remains in the tattoo until it is used, at which point the tattoo fades away. You can have a number of tattoos equal to your proficiency bonus active at a time. Making a new tattoo when you are at the max causes the oldest tattoo to fade away, but does not refund the spell slot.
Inkweaver's Resilience
When a tattoo inscribed by you is activated, the creature upon whom the tattoo was placed gains temporary hit points equal to the level of the spell stored in the tattoo plus your Intelligence modifier (minimum 1). This protective enchantment imbues the recipient with a sense of resilience and fortitude, shielding them from harm as they channel the magic contained within the tattoo.
Symbiotic Ink
At this level, you become deeply attuned to your magical tattoos, allowing you to inscribe spells directly onto your skin without expending a spell slot. Additionally, you can cast spells through your tattoos as if casting them normally. Once per long rest, you can tattoo a number of spells onto your own body equal to your Intelligence modifier. These tattoos remain dormant until activated. You can then channel spells through these tattoos, casting them without the need for verbal or somatic components. Once a tattoo has been activated to cast a spell, it becomes inactive until you finish a long or short rest.
Master of Ink
You have mastered the art of tattoo magic to such an extent that you can create permanent magical tattoos that do not fade away after use. These tattoos can hold spells of up to 5th level, and they remain active until dispelled. You can have a number of permanent tattoos equal to your proficiency bonus active at a time, and making a new one while at max causes the oldest one to fade away.
