Monk
Base Class: Monk

Those who seek the tradition of Evolution always have a thirst for more strength and experience as they channel their ki internally, multiplying its power into a display of heightened senses, bright auras, and many more feats that come with more time invested in their ki.

Forms of Evolution

Turing your Ki inward, you gain the ability to multiply your energy and power as you burst forth the ability to conquer your foes with a plethora of forms to tear through them. A Monk's Forms of Evolution are extremely personalized by its wielder, making it exceptionally rare to see 2 people ever achieve the same form. Starting at 3rd level, you gain the ability to transform, and as you gain more levels in this class you gain access to more forms.

As a bonus action, you can spend 2 Ki points to assume the first Form of Evolution for one minute, and on each subsequent turn, you can use your bonus action and spend an additional Ki point to assume the next Form of Evolution. Entering your Forms requires you to maintain concentration as if you were concentrating on a spell, and you must ascend the forms in order and retain all the benefits of the previous forms. Entering into the next Form of Evolution does not extend its duration, and you cannot restart your Form of Evolution until you have Ended your current form as a free action or the duration has expired. Whenever your Form of Evolution ends, depending on your Form, you gain a negative effect as your body is unable to withstand the sudden loss of energy. Achieving additional Forms or downgraded Forms does not count as ending a Form.

  • [3rd Level] 1st Form: Upon entering this Form, you gain Temporary Hit Points equal to your Monk Level + your Wisdom Modifier, your movement speed increases by 10 feet, and you shed an aura of bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet. (Upon ending this Form, you become Incapacitated until the end of your next turn.)
  • [3rd Level] 2nd Form: Upon entering this Form, you can add your Monk Level divided by 5 (rounded down) damage to your Unarmed Strikes. Additionally, you gain an innate ranged attack as you manifest your Ki into a ball of energy. As an action, you can make a ranged attack against a target you can see within 60 feet. On a hit, the target takes 2 rolls of your Martial Arts die + your Wisdom Modifier in radiant damage. You use your Wisdom Modifier for the attack rolls and are considered proficient in this attack. (Upon ending this Form, you become Incapacitated until the end of your next turn.)
  • [6th Level] 3rd Form: Upon entering this Form, you gain a flight speed equal to your movement speed, and you have blindsight with a range of 10 feet. (Upon ending this Form, you become Stunned until the end of your next turn.)
  • [11th level] 4th Form: Upon entering this form, you gain advantage on Dexterity and Strength saving throws, and advantage on all Dexterity checks other then stealth. Additionally, you can use your reaction to move 10 feet whenever an enemy ends its turn within 5 feet of you. This reaction does not provoke attacks of opportunity. (Upon ending this Form, you become Paralyzed until the end of your next turn.)
  • [17th level] 5th Form: Upon entering this Form, whenever you use your action to make an Unarmed Strike, you can make an additional Unarmed Strike as part of that same action. Additionally, your Unarmed Strikes deal additionally force damage equal to 1 roll of your Martial Arts die. (Upon ending this Form, you become Unconscious for 2 rounds.)

Detect Ki

Honing into those around you, you gain the uncanny ability to sense those who also share Ki, no matter how big or small the amount. At 3rd level, as an action, you scan your environment for signs of life. When you use this ability, you can detect any creature and its location within 60 feet so long as they are not behind total cover, and you do not know the identity of any creature you sense. Undead, Constructs, and any creature that would be considered to not have life force cannot be detected in this way. You can use this an amount of times equal to your Wisdom Modifier, and regain all uses at the end of a long rest. Additionally, Creatures affected by Invisibility, Greater Invisibility, Nondetection, or similar Spells or Abilities cannot be sensed in this way.

Bestow Ki

Being able to more easily manifest your Ki physically compared to others, you are able to multiply your Ki and temporarily empower others. Starting at 6th level, you can use your bonus action to spend a Ki point and bestow an effect to a willing creature other than yourself within 5 feet of you.

Healing Ki. The affected creature gains a number of Hit Points equal to your Proficiency Bonus and also gain a number of Temporary Hit Points Equal to Half your Proficiency Bonus (Rounded Down).

Ki Empowerment. The affected creature can add your Monk level divided by 5 (rounded up) to all damage rolls until the end of its next turn.

Ki Fueled Teleportation

You have gained the ability to flow your Ki in a way that allows yourself and others the ability to displace and reappear in nearby situations, wether it be in the heat of battle or whilst stuck in a cell with no other way of escape.

Starting at 11th level, you can spend 4 Ki points to ritually cast the Dimension Door spell. Additionally, whilst in combat, you gain the ability to teleport yourself and others away from danger. When in combat, you can spend 2 Ki point as a bonus action to teleport yourself and another willing creature within 5 feet to an unoccupied space you can see within 30 feet. If a creature is unwilling, the creature must make a Dexterity saving throw against your Monk Save DC, or be teleported with you.

Wellspring of Life

Gaining mastery over physically manifesting your Ki, you now gain the ability to hone your Ki and manifest it towards your allies to support them on the battlefield, though this comes at the cost of debilitating your Forms of Evolution. Starting a level 17, as an action, whenever you are in at least your Second Form of Evolution of Higher, you can spend 5 Ki to expand your aura of light. When you do this, your aura of bright light expands to 15 feet, and your dim light also expands to 15 feet past that. You and friendly creatures in this aura regain your Monk level / 4 Hit Points (Rounded Down) at the start of their turns so long as they are within range. When activating this ability, you temporarily lose access to your 5th form, and if you are currently in your 5th form you will forcefully downgrade to your 4th Form. The duration of this ability lasts for as long as the remaining duration of your Form of Evolution.
