Base Class: Barbarian
Warrior Chiefs are the leaders of Barbarian Clans, and as such they need to be able to make tactical decisions while in combat and rally their forces, which isn't always easy when raging and attacking recklessly in battle. Also, while Barbarian kings and chiefs are proud and want to die in battle in an honorable, warriors death. They also recognize that as leaders, they have a duty to at least avoid throwing themselves in front of a spear to save others. As such, Barbarians groomed for leadership are taught a special kind of rage called a battle trance that heightens reflexes and inspires allies.
Many Barbarians who take this class are in training to become chief of their tribe, but they don't have to be. There are many other reasons your Barbarian could learn to use a battle trance. Maybe they spent time with monks or druids and learned to combine their rage with more serenity. Maybe they learned to be a barbarian from the military, who valued technique over pure rage. Maybe they're just a barbarian who's especially charismatic.
Battle Trance
Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you can go into a battle trance when you rage. If you do so, for the duration of your rage, reckless attack no longer gives enemies advantage to hit you.
In addition, you can use your charisma to rally your allies. For the duration of your rage you can give a creature temporary hit points equal to your charisma modifier as a bonus action. These temporary hit points last for 10 minutes. You can add temporary hit points a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus.
Chieftain's Armory
You have more time around more exotic armors than most barbarians. Gain proficiency in Heavy Armor.
Improved Battle Trance
You gain a new attack you can make in place of reckless attack while in a battle trance. When you make your first attack on your turn, you can decide to use one of these options instead of reckless attack. You must choose one at the start of your turn and it lasts until the end of your turn. You learn an additional attack at level 10.
Brutal Attack
While attacking in this way with two handed weapons using strength, your attacks crit on a 19 or a 20 when attacking.
Maiming Attack
When you hit an enemy with slashing damage using strength, their speed is reduced to 0 and they cannot take reactions until the start of their next turn.
Savage Attack
While attacking in this way with a Longsword, Battleaxe, Warhammer or an unarmed strike, you can choose to take a -5 penalty to the attack roll. If the attack hits, you add +10 to the attack's damage.
Shaman Advisors
Beginning at 10th level, you have learned to store some Shamanistic magic inside a totem. You wear this totem on your body and it stores a single casting of a druid spell.
Choose a level 3rd druid spell. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells. You can cast this spell once without expending a spell slot. Once you do so, you cannot cast it again until after a short rest. If you cast one of these spells without a spell slot, you may use it while in a battle trance, as the spells have been prepared in some token or totem ahead of time using shamanistic magic. You may also cast this spell using spell slots if you have them, however, if you choose to try to cast these spells using spell slots while raging the spell fails.
If you cast this spell while raging, it will maintain your rage for another turn as long as you cast the spell through the totem. If the spell can be continually recast, all uses of the spell count as an attack for the purpose of continuing your rage.
Warlord, Poet, King
You become more fit for leadership. Starting at 14th level, the temporary hit points given to allies by your battle trance is now equal to your charisma score instead of your charisma modifier, and can be used a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus. You can now give your charisma modifier in temporary hit points an unlimited amount of times as long as you are in a battle trance. All temporary hit points still last 10 minutes.
In addition, if you used reckless attack on your turn, you can use a reaction when you see an ally attacking an enemy within 5 feet of you to give them advantage on their next attack.
