Base Class: Wizard
A redesign of the necromancer subclass for the wizard. Emphasis was put on the power fantasy of creating and leading your own undead army, as such the number of thralls that can be created and the overall quality of those thralls was increased with the undead thralls feature.
Dark harvest was made to provide a slight edge to players in the early game and scales well enough into late game to remain useful.
Inured to death provides small quality of life increase and has potential for shenanigans.
Control undead was remade to provide a more spectacular epic level option for high level players.
Necromancy Savant
Beginning when you select this school at 2nd level, the gold and time you must spend to copy a Necromancy spell into your spellbook is halved.
Grim Harvest
At 2nd level, you gain the ability to reap life energy from creatures you kill with your spells. Once per turn when you kill one or more creatures with a spell of 1st level or higher, you regain hit points equal to twice the spell's level, or three times its level if the spell belongs to the School of Necromancy. You don't gain this benefit for killing constructs or undead. If the health you recover in this way exceeds your hit point maximum, you gain the excess health as temporary hit points.
Undead Thralls
At 6th level, you add the Animate Dead spell to your spellbook if it is not there already. When you cast Animate Dead, you can target one additional corpse or pile of bones, creating another zombie or skeleton, as appropriate. This number increases by one at 12th level and again at 16th level.
Whenever you create an undead using a necromancy spell, it has additional benefits:
- The creature's hit point maximum is increased by an amount equal to your wizard level.
- The creature adds your proficiency bonus to its weapon attack and damage rolls.
- The creature gains your weapon and armor proficiencies
Inured to Undeath
Beginning at 10th level, you have resistance to necrotic damage, and your hit point maximum can't be reduced. You have spent so much time dealing with undead and the forces that animate them that you have become inured to some of their worst effects. Additionally, less intelligent undead no longer regard you as a target. Undead with 5 or less intelligence will ignore you unless provoked (by attacking or by hindering the completion of their assigned task) by you or an ally or when ordered to do so by a master.
Command Greater Undead
As your army grows meager humanoids are no longer sufficient to fill your ranks. Starting at 14th level, when you use a spell to create one or more undead creatures, you may expend a spell slot of 6th level or higher and target the remains of a single Beast, Dragon, Giant or Aberration that has a CR of 5 or less. That creature becomes an undead thrall under your command. Its stats remain the same except for its intelligence which becomes 3. If that creature had the ability to cast spells it loses that ability. It also gains immunity to poison and the poisoned condition if it didn't already have it.You may only control one none humanoid undead at a time.
At 18th level in addition to the large creature you summoned this way you may expend a spell slot of 9th level and target the remains of a creature that is CR 8 or lower and is huge or smaller.
