Monk
Base Class: Monk

The Eight Gates exist in order to limit the flow of ki within an individual's body. Normally, individuals can use no more than 20% of their body's full potential, the brain's way of protecting the individual from harming their body through overexertion. With training, individuals can learn to remove these limiters, referred to as "opening" the gates. With each opened gate, individuals are given access to more and more of their body's ki, thus increasing their physical strength and speed. ( the gates will be "options" which become available as you level up starting at level 3, this is because there arent enough feature spaces to include each gate)

The Gates.

At 3rd level you gain access to the first gate then every few levels you gain access to another gate. opening a gate up to gate 3 costs 1 ki point / 4 to 6 costs 2 / 7 and 8 cost 3.

3-Gate of Opening/5-Gate of Healing/7-Gate of Life/9-Gate of Pain/11-Gate of Limit/13-Gate of View/15-Gate of Wonder/17-Gate of Death.

1st Gate, The Gate of Opening

removes the user's mental inhibitions. Opening this gate allows the user to perform the Front Lotus, a technique that tires them afterwards.

2nd Gate, Gate of Healing

increases the user's physical strength. This has the added effect of re-energising the body, enabling it to rapidly recover from exhaustion. str increases by 2 while in use, gain 10 temp hp until gate is closed. If you open this gate outside of combat you regain all lost hp and heal all superficial wounds (eg. small cuts, sprains).

3rd Gate, Gate of Life

Turns the user's skin red when opened. Other effects include the user's pupils disappearing, their hair standing on end, and bulging veins all over their body. Opening this gate allows the user to perform the Reverse Lotus. The ki released is enough to create a buffer zone to allow safe passage through severe adverse weather.

4th Gate, Gate of Pain

You gain the effects of the haste spell for 1 minute: movement speed is doubled, +2 to AC, get an extra A/BA/R. Once this gate is closed you cannot move for 1 turn and you gain a level of exhaustion.

5th Gate, Gate of Limit

Once this gate is opened the user gains a +15 to damage and to hit. however once this gate is closed you cannot open it again until you have fully rested via long rest.

6th Gate, Gate of View

increases all the user's abilities. The power that emanates from the user is enough to displace surrounding bodies of water. Opening this gate allows the user to perform the Morning Peacock wherein the user's punches are so fast that friction with the air produces flames. Opening this gate has sometimes been shown to create an aura around the user.

7th Gate, Gate of Wonder

causes the user's body to secrete a blue sweat. The sweat immediately evaporates, creating an aura around the user that can be mistaken for ki. Opening this gate allows the user to perform the Daytime Tiger, a single punch that creates a pocket of compressed air.

8th Gate, gate of Death

Users open this gate by puncturing their chest with their thumb in order to direct the ki there. While open, the user's heart pumps at maximum speed, granting them power a hundred times greater than they are usually capable of.blood soaked steam is emitted from the user's pores and hair, resembling a flaming red aura. This should only be used in the most dire situations as the user dies once the gate is closed.

Added Weights

The user constantly has super heavy weights added to their body which restrict their movement. When removed the users speed doubles and they gain bonus action and reaction. The weights must be put back on because **** you.

Improved critical

at the cost of 2 ki points you can increase your crit range by 1.

Decreased Backlash

at 17th level you no longer suffer any backlash for opening gate 1-4 as you have gotten strong enough for them to be usable at will.
