Base Class: Blood Hunter
The Order of the Hungering Blade is a relatively new faction of Blood Hunters. Drawing on the power of The Faceless Lord, Juiblex, the demonic weapons of hungering blade blood hunters absorb the very lifeforce of those struck, and release in destructive, yet delicate ways. The hungering blade is just as tolling to the wielder as its victim if swung without resolve.
Hungering blade
The identifying feature of The Order of the Hungering Blade, the hungering blade itself, is obtained upon taking the subclass at level 3.
Attacks deal bonus necrotic damage equal to a number of rolls of your hemocraft die equal to half your proficiency bonus. However a constitution saving throw must be made (DC 15) at the end of your turn and on a failed save you take damage equal to half the damage done by this feature over the past turn, on a successful save, no recoil is taken. Additionally, half the damage done by this feature is stored as Consumed essence (Including recoil).
When a critical strike is landed with this feature, the number of hemocraft die is doubled. (This does not affect players who use the double damage critical rule). These additional die do not count for the recoil.
Brutal strike
As an action, spend Consumed essence to deal bonus necrotic damage equal to half the Consumed essence spent. This attack cannot grant Consumed Essence.
Essence Consumption
As an action, spend Consumed essence to heal that many hit points.
Executing Strike
Spend half of your Consumed Essence and sacrifice all Consumed Essence gained from an attack to critically strike a target if it's below half hp. The lack of Consumed Essence gained remains to the end of the turn, however only one critical strike can be produced by this feature per turn.
Leeching strike
As an action, spend Consumed essence to release a melee weapon attack that deals wholly necrotic damage and heals you for half as many hit points as Consumed essence spent.
Lethality
Starting at level 7, when striking a target below half hp, the bonus damage Hungering Blade deals is doubled. Additionally, when striking a target who would be killed by the highest possible damage value of your attack, instantly kill the opponent, gaining half their hit point maximum as Consumed Essence and healing 1d10.
Hungering Presence
At 11th level, you can spend 15 Consumed Essence as a bonus action to absorb the health of nearby foes for one turn.
At the end of your turn, while this skill is active, all hostile creatures must make a con saving throw against your Hemocraft DC. On a failed save, the creature takes the bonus damage of Hungering Blade (triggers lethality), and heals you for half the damage dealt.
Greeding Blade
Starting at 15th level, your attacks crit on a 19 or a 20. For every 20 Consumed Essence the Margin for critical hits increase by 1, max of 5. (18, 19, or 20 at 20 points; 17, 18, 19, or 20 at 40 points; max is 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, or 20 at 80 points). The critical hits for values below 19 can be chosen to not benefit from the critical bonuses, in return no Consumed Essence is spent.
Critical strikes caused by this feature spend Consumed essence based off of the distance from 19. Half the points required to have the rolled number as a critical hit value. (10 points for 18; 20 points for 17; 30 points for 16; 40 points for 15)
Relentless Strikes
Starting at level 18, for the first time upon striking a new foe (per battle) below half hp, attack again. Landing a critical hit also allows an additional strike. You can spend 40 Consumed Essence to strike again, 20 against a target below half hp.
Maximum of twice per turn.
