Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

For as long as dragons have roamed the Material Plane, there have been mortals who've become enticed by their might and worshiped them as gods. The Oath of Dragons consists of warriors from all walks of life who have sought out such creatures, been touched by their influence, or called into their service. While some use the power offered by benevolent dragons or their gods to aid the downtrodden or take up a noble cause, others revel in the malicious and cruel strength offered by their darker counterparts.

Tenets of the Dragons

Each paladin's Oath is as unique as the dragons they serve but a few basic tenets exist across both metallic and chromatic dragons.

Unending Devotion

Though their chosen are free to follow their own path, dragons require fealty above all else. Some going so far as to lay claim over the descendants of those champions who failed in their duties.

Boundless Strength

Each person must be true to their own power - whether it be in the secrets of hidden lore, martial prowess on the battlefield, or cunning diplomacy that holds a kingdom together. Dragons differ on what they consider true strength but none will tolerate cowardice or a weak will.

 Covetous Nature

Like the great dragons they serve, paladins of this Oath are expected to keep a sizable hoard of their own or at least claim one or two valuable possessions. Most are unable to travel with a mountain of gold on their back so they make do with a prized heirloom or rare magical object.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Winged Majesty. As an action, large leathery wings stretch out from your back and you gain a fly speed equal to your walking speed for one hour, using your Channel Divinity.

You can end this effect on your turn as an action. If you fall unconscious, this effect ends.

Divine Fury. As an action, you present your holy symbol and speak a prayer in the tongue of the ancient wyrms, using your Channel Divinity.

Your speed is doubled,  gain a +2 bonus to AC, and gain an additional action on each of your turns. That action can be used only to take the Attack (one weapon attack only) or Dash action toward an enemy you can see. The fury lasts for 1 minute. It ends early if you are knocked unconscious or if your turn ends and you haven’t attacked a hostile creature since your last turn or taken damage since then. You can also end your fury on your turn as a bonus action.

When the effect ends, you can't move or take actions until after your next turn, as a wave of lethargy sweeps over you.

Oath Spells

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed.

Oath of Dragons Spells

Frightening Strike

Starting at 7th level, you strike out with a barrage of vicious blows against nearby enemies and attempt to instill them with terror. Make a separate melee attack against each creature you can see within range. On a hit, that creature takes an addition 1d8 psychic damage and must succeed a Wisdom saving throw against your passive Intimidation or become frightened until the end of your next turn. Creatures that are immune to fear are unaffected and don't suffer the additional psychic damage.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum 1) and regain expended uses after a short or long rest.

Purity of Form

Beginning at 15th level, your devotion to the tenets of your oath is rewarded by the dragon your serve. You gain the following features:

Draconic Resilience. As magic flows through your body, it causes physical traits of your dragon patron to emerge. Your hit point maximum increases to an amount equal to your level in this class.

Swift Retribution. The roar of your wings and ferocity of your attacks stun nearby foes, protecting you from reprisals. When your Winged Majesty is active, you don't provoke opportunity attacks when flying out of an enemy's reach.

Piercing Gaze. When you use your Divine Sense, you also gain truesight out to 30 feet for one minute. This sight can only detect creatures, or spells and effects from creatures, that are celestial, fiend, or undead.

Ancient Power

At 20th level, as an action, you draw on the ancient spirit of a dragon to strengthen your body and soul for a short time.

You gain blightsight out to 60 feet and Advantage on Constitution saving throws for 1 minute. During that time, you can increase your AC, attack rolls, or damage rolls by an amount equal to your Charisma modifier. At the beginning of each turn, you can switch this bonus to a different option as a bonus action.
