Base Class: Bard
Bards in Arryl who have associated with fey bird spirits can pursue the college of nightingales, a school of bardic magic that spreads word of fey culture and relies upon harmony and mimicry. With the help of these spirits, these bards can heal and harm those around them with bewitching duets.
Songbird Companion
By third level, you have befriended or otherwise beguiled a fey songbird. Once per short rest, you can use a bonus action to summon this bird to appear anywhere within 30 feet of you. It shares your initiative.
This bird uses the raven statblock, with the following changes:
- It is considered fey.
- It understands Sylvan.
- It adds {{modifier:charisma}} to its AC.
- Its hit point total is {{proficiency}}*{{classlevel}}
- As an action, it can use bardic inspiration using your supply.
Fey Standards
Also at third level, you learn songs of power from your companion. As an action, you can spend a bardic inspiration charge in order to use one of the following abilities:
- Hymn: Roll {{proficiency}}*your bardic inspiration did. The total is a pool of hit points that you can distribute among creatures that you can see within 60 feet of you.
- Dirge: Up to {{proficiency}} creatures of your choice within 60 feet must roll a WIS save or take psychic damage equal to your bardic die+{{modifier:cha}}, or half as much on a failed save. To increase damage, you may expend additional bardic die.
Harmony
At sixth level, your songbird and you can weave songs of harm and healing together masterfully. Whenever you heal or deal psychic or thunder damage while your songbird is summoned, you also add your bardic inspiration die to the total.
Mimicry
At fourteenth level, your songbird has helped you master the art of mimicry. As an action, you can expend three bardic inspiration dice to immediately cast the last spell used by a creature within thirty feet of you.
