Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

Gods of various realms seek out mortals who aid them in their quests, bringing Clerics, Warlocks, and Paladins into being. When a sword fighter shows particularly promising skills in their craft they as well might be chosen to inherit divine power in exchange for their service. Soul Swords control a floating divine projection of their sword in battle increasing their reach and possibilities to attack.

Divine Blessing

At 3rd level, you choose to gain proficiency in Arcana, Religion, or Nature, and you choose to learn one of these cantrips associated with the deity that grants you your powers: Thaumaturgy, Spare the dying, Control Flames, Light, or Shape Water.

Spectral Sword

At 3rd level, you can project ethereal divine magic into a floating replica of a greatsword or longsword you possess. You need to hold either the original or nothing in the hands required to control it.

  • The replica copies the damage and effects of the original but gains the reach property. The weapons damage type becomes the damage type associated with your deity. (Choose the damage type from this list when you first gain this feature: necrotic, radiant, fire, lightning, or cold)
  • If you create a second spectral sword the first one vanishes
  • When you take the attack action on your turn, you can forgo one of your attacks and use a bonus action to command your spectral sword to stab forward, every creature in a 1 feet wide and 10 feet long line has to succeed on a Dexterity saving throw against your sword save DC or be hit by your spectral sword

Your sword save DC for features of this subclass is 8 + your proficiency bonus modifier + your Wisdom modifier.

Cold

Your spectral swords weapon damage type becomes cold.

Fire

Your spectral swords weapon damage type becomes fire.

Lightning

Your spectral swords weapon damage type becomes lightning.

Necrotic

Your spectral swords weapon damage type becomes necrotic.

Radiant

Your spectral swords weapon damage type becomes radiant.

Unique Knack

At 7th level, you are blessed with a unique skill. Allowing you to make up for the limits of the sword. You gain proficiency in one tool of your choice. Your proficiency bonus is doubled for any skill check with that tool. Also if you choose an instrument, you can transform your sword into the instrument.

Blade Control

At 10th level, as an action, you can use one of the attacks:

  • Cleave: Every creature in a 20-foot cone has to succeed on a Dexterity saving throw against your sword save DC or be hit by your spectral sword.
  • Impale: You create an additional copy of your sword above one creature of your choice within 20 feet. As it pierces downwards the target has to succeed on a Dexterity saving throw against your sword save DC or be hit twice by your spectral sword. The sword impales the creature on a hit restraining them. A creature restrained by the sword can use its action to make a Strength check against your sword save DC. On a success, it frees itself and the copy vanishes.

You can use this feature three times. You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Rolling Strikes

At 15th level, your strikes get increasingly harder to dodge as they build up momentum. Whenever you miss a melee weapon attack against a target you gain a +1 bonus to hit for the rest of your turn. Additionally, your sword save DC is affected by any to-hit boni you gain to melee attacks with your sword.

Improved Blade Control

When you reach level 18 in this subclass, you can repeat blade control once more as part of the same action.
