Wizard
Base Class: Wizard

Wizards have always been known for their ability to understand the arcane mechanisms of magic in order to produce various effects. However, some wizard's minds are able to process information in a different way than others. Spell Stealers, Copy Cats, Magic Mockery, these wizards have gone by many names, but their style of using spells remains the same. These wizards are able to replicate spells that they don't know just through being able to see them happen before their eyes, and these wizards can even match the potency of the spell from the original caster, allowing them to cast spells that many wizards can not ever have access to. While they are able to replicate them in battle, remembering how they did it is not always possible, and therefore these wizards have been known to be the dunces of the magical world as they can never reproduce effects correctly on the fly and still must learn magic the same as any other wizard.

Can I See Your Homework?

Beginning when you select this school at 2nd level, the gold and time you must spend to copy a spell into your spellbook is halved if you already have a spell in your spellbook that is of the same school and level of the desired spell to copy.

Copy Cat

Beginning at 2nd level, you can use your reaction to save a save to use on your next turn. Whenever a spell is used within 120 ft. of you, you can use your reaction to save the spell. A spell saved in this way can then be cast again on your next turn. A spell saved in this way uses your spellcasting modifier, your spell save DC, and any level based extra features (such as Eldritch Blast gaining more targets) is based on your level. If the saved spell is a leveled spell, you must possess the same level of spell slot that spell used to be cast (So a 5th level Fireball can not be used with a 3rd level spell slot). If you do not use the saved spell by the end of your next turn after using this feature, the spell is lost to you and can not be cast unless it is a spell you have prepared.

The spells you may copy must be either Cantrips or 1st level spells. The level of spell you can copy with this feature increases as you gain levels in this subclass.

Potent Copying

Starting at 6th level, the spells you copy are more powerful in your hands than the original. Whenever you cast a spell using your Copy Cat feature, you can double your spellcasting modifier bonus to the spell's attack roll (if it requires one), or double the spellcasting modifier bonus to the spell save DC (if it requires a saving throw). In addition, any damage done by the spell is increased by your spellcasting modifier, and spells (like scorching ray) that require multiple attack rolls increase in damage by your spellcasting modifier for each successful attack roll.

The spell level maximum that you can copy with your Copy Cat feature is increased to 2nd level.

Spell Stealer

Beginning at 10th level, whenever you use your reaction to use the Copy Cat feature, you may also cast Counterspell at 3rd level as part of the same reaction. The spell is saved regardless of if Counterspell succeeds or not. You can only use this feature a number of times equal to your Intelligence Modifier, recharging all uses after a long rest.

Additionally you may copy any spell that you have saved using your Copy Cat feature in the past 24 hours to your spellbook. This method instantly puts the spell into your spellbook, but requires the normal amount of gold to copy the spell. This way of copying spells can only be done once per long rest, and if this method is used to copy a spell that is not from the wizard spell list, you must wait 7 days before being able to copy another spell into your spellbook by this method.

The spell level maximum that you can copy with your Copy Cat feature is increased to 4th level.

A Perfect Copy

Starting at 14th level, you are able to copy any spell and control its power. Whenever a spell is cast within 120 ft. of you, you can use your reaction to save the spell as long as you have a spell slot of any level, and the spell does not need to be from the wizard's spell list. You are now able to cast the saved spell until you take a short or long rest, or until you use this feature again. The saved spell can be cast with any level spell slot, but can not be cast with a spell slot lower than the spell's base level. The saved spell is cast with your spellcasting modifier, your spell save DC, and any level based upgrades to the spell are based off of your level.

Additionally, you have advantage on the spell attack roll if the spell requires a spell attack roll, or impose disadvantage on targets that make a saving throw if the spell requires a saving throw. You can only use this ability a number of times equal to your proficiency modifier, and you regain all uses of this feature after a long rest.

The spell level maximum that you can copy with your Copy Cat feature is increased to 5th level.
