Monk
Base Class: Monk

"Do you call out for aid?  Your journey through these lands is sure to be long and treacherous."

The Way of Blue was not a developed and evangelical religion, but rather a humble alliance of do-gooders who sought to protect each other, whatever road one might take.  A symbol was used to bridge the space between kingdoms or even worlds, allowing for the meek who wore the symbol to summon stalwarts to their side in times of need.  The Way of Blue was founded with the talents of gifted wizards and scholars of the arcane.  Whether the Way of Blue truly exists or is just an old tale, monks who follow the Way of Blue's tradition study the arcane and learn to use their arts to bridge the distances between friends.

Study of the Arcane

When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in Arcana.  If you are already proficient in Arcana, you instead learn a skill from the wizard skill list or a language of your choice.

Arcane Arts

Starting at 3rd level, you can use your ki to duplicate the effects of certain spells; you use Intelligence as your spellcasting ability when you do so.  As an action, you can spend 1 ki point to cast detect magic, identify, or magic missile, without providing material components.  Additionally, you gain the mage hand cantrip if you don't already know it, and you can cast mage armor at will without expending a spell slot or ki points, or providing material components.

Starting at 6th level, you can spend 5 ki points to cast counterspell, or 6 ki points to cast sending targeting a creature wearing the blue seal.  The blue seal is a symbol representing the Way of Blue, and can be emblazoned on a signet ring, cloak or shield.  If the chosen target is not wearing the blue seal, the spell fails.

Starting at 11th level, you can spend 4 ki points to cast dimension door.

Arcane Strikes

Starting at 6th level, you can use force damage as the damage type for your unarmed strikes.

Blue Sentinel

When initiates of the Way of Blue call out for aid, the Blue Sentinels will answer.  Starting at 11th level, as an action you can spend 5 ki points to teleport to a humanoid wearing the blue seal.  You picture a specific individual in your mind.  If that individual is wearing the blue seal, you are instantly transported to a random space within 10 feet of the target that is not occupied by a creature or terrain you can't share a space with.  If no unoccupied space is within 10 feet of the target, or the target is not wearing the blue seal, you are not transported.  If you are successfully transported, after 10 minutes have passed, you are transported back to the space you left from, or the closest space you can occupy.  Once you have used this feature, you cannot do so again until you have completed a long rest.

Absorb Energy

Starting at 17th level, as a reaction when you take damage you can spend 1 or more ki points to absorb some of the harmful energy.  You have resistance to one triggering damage type until the end of the current turn, including the triggering instance.  The first time you hit with an unarmed strike before the end of your next turn, the target takes an extra 1d6 force damage.

If you spend 10 ki points, you can absorb all of the harmful energy.  You gain immunity instead of resistance to one triggering damage type, and the extra force damage you deal increases to 8d6.
