Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Ancient texts speak of the mysterious Malevolent Shrine, a cursed technique created by sorcerers of a bygone era to eviscerate their enemies. The exact details of its nature are lost to time, with some claiming that it was a living entity that possessed its hosts, while others describe it as a secret technique passed down from generation to generation. Though you may not now its origin, you now possess the powers of the Malevolent Shrine, channeling its destructive slashes every time you rage.

This subclass is obviously inspired JJK, and tries to recreate the techniques and abilities of Sukuna as of the Shibuya arc. Feel free to leave comments about flavor or balancing; in regards to the Domain Expansion: Malevolent Shrine feature, it was balanced in relation to steel wind strike which can be cast multiple times by a wizard of a similar level.

Cleave

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you can channel the powers of the Malevolent Shrine to unleash slashes of magical energy into the air around you. While raging, you gain the following benefits:

  • Your unarmed strikes deal 1d6 slashing damage rather than their normal damage, and attacks made with your unarmed strikes are considered melee weapon attacks.
  • Your melee weapon attacks that deal slashing damage have a range of 30 feet. Attacks made using this feature follow the rules of ranged weapon attacks, such as those regarding partial cover or the prone condition, but are still considered melee weapon attacks.

Black Box

Starting at sixth level, you begin to unlock the "Black Box" of your ancient technique, granting you new ways to use its power.. Whenever you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, you can choose one of the following features:

  • Dismantle: the attack deals an additional 2d10 damage. If the target is an object or a construct, use the maximum value for each damage die rolled.
  • Fuga: the attack deals an additional 2d8 damage, and the damage type is changed to fire.

You can use the feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and regain all expended uses whenever you finish a long rest.

World Cleave

Beginning at 10th level, your mastery of the Malevolent Shrine technique becomes so advanced that you can slash through the fabric of reality itself, ignoring physical and magical defenses. Your melee attack rolls that deal slashing damage are considered magical for the purpose of overcoming resistances. Additionally, when you make a melee attack roll against a hostile creature, that creature does not gain any benefit to their AC from spells, such as shield or mage armor.

Domain Expansion: Malevolent Shrine

Starting at 14th level, your mastery of ancient technique allows you to channel the essence of the Malevolent Shrine into the physical world, transforming the space around you into a domain of devastating magical slashes. As an action, you can make a melee attack roll against each creature of your choice within 30 feet of you. You do not need to be able to see a creature to make this attack, and creatures do not gain any benefit from being behind cover. On a hit, these attacks deal additional slashing damage equal to half of your barbarian level, rounded up.

You can use this feature once without suffering adverse affects. If you use this feature again before taking a long rest, you suffer one level of exhaustion.
