Base Class: Wizard
The Weave Cartographer is a wizard who studies not only the function, but also the form of the weave. Utilizing ancient rituals and complicated theory, they are able to create maps of disturbances in the weave that result from the use of magic. In this way, they are not only able to gain information which is inaccessible to others, but they are also able to enhance their own spellcasting by interacting with the weave in a more direct way. These skilled arcane mapmakers are driven by an insatiable curiosity about the very fabric of reality, seeking to unravel the intricate tapestry of magic that binds the multiverse together.
Weave Cartography
At 2nd level, you gain proficiency in Cartographer’s Supplies, which you can now use as your spellcasting focus.
As an action, you can create a radiant, three-dimensional Weave Chart which visually represents disturbances in the weave around you. This Chart maps magical connections and nodes of energy within the Weave in a 60-foot radius from your position. This chart persists for 1 minute, until you leave the area mapped by the Weave Chart, or until you dismiss the Weave Chart as an action. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per day, and you regain all expended uses on a long rest.
You gain the following benefits while your Weave Chart is active:
- You gain advantage on Intelligence (Arcana) checks to identify spells being cast or to discern magical effects within the Weave Chart's area.
- You can use your reaction when a spell attack targets a creature within the Weave Chart's area to make an Intelligence (Arcana) check with a DC equal to 10 + the spell’s level. If you succeed, the target of the spell receives a bonus to AC equal to your intelligence modifier for that attack.
- You can use your reaction when a creature within the Weave Chart's area makes a saving throw resulting from a spell. If you succeed on an Intelligence (Arcana) check with a DC equal to 10 + the spell’s level, the creature has advantage for that saving throw.
- You can sense the presence and positions of magical traps as well as creatures and objects that bear magic within the Weave Chart's area. You also gain Truesight (30 ft.) within the area mapped by your Weave Chart.
Weave Scrying
Beginning at 2nd level, during a short rest and with Cartographer’s Supplies in hand, you can craft a Weave Chart for an area you have visited in the last 24 hours, covering an area with a radius of up to 75 feet.
A Weave Chart created in this way is portable outside the mapped area and grants you the following benefits:
- You can sense the presence and positions of magical traps as well as creatures and objects that bear magic within the Weave Chart's area.
- You are aware of and have advantage on Intelligence (Arcana) checks to identify spells being cast and magical effects within the Weave Chart's area.
- Over the course of 10 minutes, you can teleport yourself and a number of willing creatures up to your proficiency bonus which you can see to a location of your choice within the Weave Chart's area from up to one mile away.
This Weave Chart remains active for 24 hours, until you no longer have cartographer’s supplies in your inventory, or until you dismiss it as an action. You can only have a number of Weave Charts created in this way up to your Intelligence modifier at the same time.
Weave Chart Conduit
Starting at 6th level, you gain the ability to channel your spells through pathways in the Weave, enabling you to cast them with greater control and precision. You gain the following abilities:
- You are now able to leave the area of a Weave Chart created through your Weave Cartography ability without dispelling the Weave Chart.
- You can cast any spell you have prepared which has a range of touch as if you were at a location of your choice within the area mapped by a Weave Chart you control. If you are not inside the area mapped by your Weave Chart and you cast a spell in this way, you must succeed on a DC 15 Intelligence (Arcana) check, or your Weave Chart collapses, requiring you to use your action to recreate it if you wish to use it again.
- You can cast the Silent Image spell without using a spell slot. You cast the spell as though you are standing in the center of the area mapped by your Weave Chart, however the illusion cannot extend beyond the area mapped by your Weave Chart.
- When a spell is cast within your Weave Chart's area, you can use your reaction to amplify the magical energy of that spell, adding your intelligence modifier to damage or healing rolls for the spell. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to your intelligence modifier. Uses reset on a long rest.
Reroute the Weave
Beginning at 10th level, your profound understanding of the structure of the Weave allows you to redirect energies produced by spells. Whenever a spell targets a creature that is within 10 feet of you or within the area mapped by your Weave Chart, you can use your reaction to make an Intelligence (Arcana) check with a DC of 10 + the spell's level. If you succeed, you can choose a new target that is within 60 feet of you.
Shape the Weave
Your mastery and comprehension of the nature of the Weave allows you to have superb control over your Weave Charts. Starting at 14th level, once per day as an action, you can unleash a surge of raw magical energy, reshaping The Weave around you. You gain the following abilities:
- You can cast Dispel Magic as a bonus action without using a spell slot once per use of this feature.
- Creatures of your choice within the area of a Weave Chart you control must succeed on an Intelligence saving throw using your spell save DC or have disadvantage on spell attacks and saving throws.
- Creatures of your choice within the area of a Weave Chart you control gain advantage on spell attacks and saving throws.
This magical surge lasts for 1 minute or until you dismiss it as an action.
