Base Class: Ranger
Ranger but make it a mixture of Venture(Overwatch) and Indiana Jones
(redone bc I forgot to edit the features out)
Practical Academia
At 3rd level, you gain the following features:
- Proficiency in one of Arcana, History, Investigation, Perception, or Religion.
- You learn one language of your choice. This language does not have to be one your favoured enemy speaks.
- Proficiency with Painters Supplies.
- You can use either Intelligence or Wisdom as your Spellcasting ability.
Portable Research Subject
At 7th level, if you kill one of your favoured enemies without using any magic, you can collect some of the creature's bones. Attacks that are magical for the purposes of overcoming resistances and/or confer an attack bonus without transmuting or adding a new damage type do not count as magical for the purpose of this feature.
As a bonus action, you can use this item in one of three ways. Using the item does not destroy it, however you can only use each item once. Any further attempts to use this item fail to cause an effect. You can use this ability up to two times per short rest. You can either:
- Ask the deceased one question. You understand the ghost automatically if it is one of your favoured enemies, otherwise you must know the language it speaks.
- You cast Find Familiar. The familiar is an undead.
- You study the bones. Until the end of the next short or long rest, you gain proficiency in one skill or tool/weapon that the deceased knew in life.
It Belongs In A Museum!
At 11th level, you gain an increased knowledge in terms of artifacts and magic items. You can attune to any magic item created by your favoured enemies, up to a number of items equivalent to your proficiency bonus. Additionally, if an one of your favoured enemies (or an enemy wielding a magic item/artifact created by your favoured enemies) within 30 feet of you is wielding a magic item that they are attuned to, you can spend an action to make either an Intelligence or Charisma check against the enemy's Charisma saving throw. On a successful roll, the item loses all attunements, and is dropped out of the creature's possession. On a fail, you cannot attempt this action or attempt to attune to this item for 24 hours. Can be used a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
Advanced Academia
You receive the following upgrades:
- You gain expertise in two of Arcana, History, Investigation, Perception, or Religion.
- You learn one language of your choice.
- You can use the bones of any creature for the effects of Portable Research Subject to occur. You can now cause two effects to occur, and have a higher pool of effects to choose from.
- You create a perfect replica of the creature. It uses the same stat block as it did when it was alive, but it is undead and only knows languages you know. For it to take an action, it must be commanded. Anyone who succeeds an Investigation check with DC 15 can tell that this is not the original creature. Anyone close to the deceased has advantage on this roll.
- You channel the spirit of the deceased. You gain a movement speed increase equal to 5*their DEX modifier, to a minimum of 5 feet, and a bonus to attack and damage rolls equal to their STR modifier.
- It Belongs In A Museum now affects all artifacts and magic items.
