Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

Paladins who swear the Oath of Minerva's Devotion dedicate themselves to the ideals of wisdom, strategy, and diplomacy. They become divine agents of Minerva, goddess of wisdom, strategic warfare, and the arts, embodying her values of protecting knowledge and fostering understanding among peoples. These paladins are often seen as advisors in courts and leaders in battles where the mind is as important as the blade.

Tenets of Minerva's Devotion

  • Wisdom Over War: Seek to resolve conflicts through wisdom and understanding first, resorting to combat only as a last measure.
  • Guardian of Knowledge: Protect the sanctity of knowledge and the arts, and prevent the misuse of such power.
  • Strategic Insight: Always plan several steps ahead, not only in battle but in all things, as foresight is the key to maintaining balance and order.
  • Diplomatic Integrity: Uphold truth and fairness in your words and deeds, and strive to bring about agreements that benefit all parties.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options:

  • Insight of the Owl: You can use your Channel Divinity to gain remarkable insight into the situation at hand. As an action, you gain advantage on Wisdom (Insight) and Intelligence (Investigation) checks for 10 minutes.
  • Minerva’s Negotiation: You can use your Channel Divinity to infuse your words with divine compulsion. As an action, you can force a creature that can hear and understand you to make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature is charmed by you for 1 minute or until it takes any damage. During this time, the charmed creature is inclined to agree with your diplomatic proposals or requests.

Aura of Enlightenment

Starting at 7th level, you and friendly creatures within 10 feet of you can't be charmed, and all have advantage on Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma saving throws. At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Divine Strategy

Starting at 15th level, you can call upon Minerva’s tactical acumen to anticipate your enemies' moves. As a reaction when a visible enemy within 30 feet of you makes an attack roll, ability check, or a saving throw, you can impose disadvantage on the roll.

Minerva’s Emissary

At 20th level, you can assume the form of an avatar of wisdom and strategy, as a bonus action. For 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:

  • You gain true sight out to a range of 120 feet.
  • Any spells you cast that require concentration are automatically maintained without needing concentration.
  • Once on each of your turns, you can automatically succeed on an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
