Base Class: Wizard

School of Draconic Magic

Some arcane colleges look to dragons as the most innately magical beings in existence. There they explore the magical nature and varieties of draconic magic, and teach wizards to embody those principles. Detractors of this school say that its tradition is simply about imitating some of the most dangerous monsters around. You understand, however, that there is as much variety and potential in dragons as there is in the rest of the weave, and that to study magic of any kind is to reach for the same kind of potential that dragons innately possess. Thus, like dragons, wizards of this school are just as likely to be great healers, illusionists, diviners, or conjurers as they are to be great war casters.

Draconic Focus

Beginning when you select this school at 2nd level, you choose one type of dragon as your focus. This focus is a dragon scale, roughly the same size as your spellbook, which it replaces, can store 320 spells, can’t be damaged by fire or immersion in water, and doesn’t deteriorate with age. To use the focus, one simply thinks of a spell contained within, and the contents of that page appears on the inner face of the scale. A self taught wizard might find a scale in the wild, and fashion it into a draconic focus, but most are simple bestowed upon new students by wizard's colleges, to whom new scales are frequently donated by adventurer alumni. New spells can be inscribed into the focus for the usual cost in gold and time.

You gain resistance to the type of damage indicated by the dragon you choose. The damage type, as well as the chromatic, metallic, or gem type associated with each dragon is used by features you gain later.
