Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

The Trophy Hunter Ranger is a master of the wilderness who views nature not as a partner to be revered, but as an adversary to be dominated. Driven by an unyielding will to conquer and control, Trophy Hunters are expert trackers and fearsome predators, leveraging their intimate knowledge of the wilds to hunt down and subdue the most formidable creatures. Their prowess extends beyond mere physical strength; they wield firearms or specialized weapons with lethal precision, ensuring that no beast or enemy can stand against their relentless pursuit.

Philosophy and Approach: Trophy Hunters are distinguished by their pragmatic and often ruthless approach to the natural world. Unlike other rangers who seek harmony with their environment, Trophy Hunters see the wilderness as a domain to be mastered. This ethos manifests in their relentless tracking skills, their ability to manipulate fear, and their strategic use of trophies taken from their prey. These trophies serve as both physical symbols of their victories and practical tools that grant them temporary but powerful advantages in their ongoing hunts.

Predator’s Instinct (Lvl 3)

  • Master Tracker: You have advantage on Wisdom (Survival) checks to track creatures and Intelligence checks to recall information about them.
  • Intimidating Presence: When you reduce a creature to 0 hit points, you can use a bonus action to force each creature of your choice within 30 feet that can see you to make a Wisdom saving throw against your ranger spell save DC. On a failed save, a creature is frightened of you until the end of your next turn.

Hunter’s Dominance(Lvl 3)

  • Trophy Taker: When you kill a creature, you can take a trophy from it as a bonus action. This trophy provides a temporary benefit:
    • Fang of the Beast: Gain a +2 bonus to melee attack rolls for 1 hour.
    • Eye of the Predator: Gain advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks for 1 hour.
    • Hide of the Quarry: Gain temporary hit points equal to your Wisdom modifier plus your ranger level.

Dominator’s Armament(Lvl 3)

  • Firearm Proficiency: Gain proficiency with firearms. You can craft and repair firearms during long rests, and you can use Dexterity for attack and damage rolls with firearms.
  • Unique Weapon: Choose one unique weapon (firearm or specialized ranged weapon) that you can craft and customize. This weapon can have unique properties or effects, such as:
    • Scoped Rifle: Grants advantage on attack rolls against targets at long range.
    • Explosive Shotgun: Deals additional damage in a 10-foot cone.
    • Precision Pistol: Allows you to make an additional attack as a bonus action once per turn

You can add these effects to a firearm or ranged weapon once per long rest. You can only add one of these effects.

Conqueror’s Tenacity(Lvl 7)

  • Unyielding Will: Gain proficiency in Wisdom saving throws. If you already have this proficiency, you gain proficiency in Charisma saving throws instead.
  • Dominate Terrain: You ignore difficult terrain, and you have advantage on saving throws against environmental hazards, such as extreme weather, quicksand, or natural traps.

Apex Predator(Lvl 11)

  • Fearsome Strike: Once per turn, when you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can deal an extra 1d8 damage. If the creature is frightened, this extra damage increases to 2d8.
  • Frightening Roar: As an action, you can let out a terrifying roar. Each creature of your choice within 30 feet that can hear you must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your ranger spell save DC or be frightened of you for 1 minute. A frightened creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
