Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

A fearless warrior, the protector doesn't hesitate to jump into the fray and taunt enemies to take the hits for the party. A protector doesn't use it's abilities to maximize their lethality but to instead their defense making them nearly unkillable juggernauts on the battlefield.

Shield Expertise

Beginning when you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you automatically gain the shield master feat. If you already have the shield master feat you may pick another feat to obtain. Additionally once per turn you can replace an attack with a shield block, increasing your shields AC bonus by 2. (adds +2 to Dex saving throws targeting you as well because of shield master).

Ignore Pain

Starting at 7th level you gain the ability to ignore and fight off the pain of attacks, upon taking damage you can use your reaction to halve the damage. You can use this feature equal to your proficiency bonus and gain back all charges on a long rest.

Taunt

Starting at 7th level you can use a bonus action to taunt and provoke a creature into attacking you, forcing the creature to succeed a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save you give it disadvantage to attacking creatures other than you if it can see you and is within 60 feet of you.

Save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier

Heroic Leap

At 10th level, you can use a bonus action to leap up to 30 feet away with heroic power. Creatures within 5 feet from where you impact must succeed a Dexterity saving throw or take 1d8 bludgeoning damage and be knocked prone.

Save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength or Charisma modifier

Spell Block

Starting at 15th level, you gain the ability to reflect and block spells with your shield. While holding a shield you have advantage on saving throws against spells that target only you, spell attacks have disadvantage to hit you, and you take half damage from magic missile.

Last Stand

At 18th level, when reduced to half health you invoke your true fighting spirit and make your last stand. Whenever you take damage you can decrease the amount by 1d8 damage. You also don't have to replace an attack to shield block and instead do so as a free action.
