Base Class: Monk
Monks of the Way of the Monkey learn from the great master of tricks, mischief and self-entertainment, Sun Wukong, the Monkey King himself. His teaches have been passed down through generations of monks and kept in monasteries, being taught to new monks every generation to keep Sun Wukong's ways alive and well. Monks of this discipline utilize methods of dodging, weaving and ducking past and through their enemies to evade attacks and strike at weak points on their opponent's body. Monks of the Way of the Monkey are notoriously difficult to hold down and kill. It's like pinning Jell-o to a wall.
Tricks of the Monkey King
At 3rd level, you learn the beginning tricks from the playbook of Sun Wukong himself. These allow you to move as slippery as a fish, nimbly as a rabbit and acrobatically as a monkey. You gain expertise in Acrobatics and Sleight of Hand. Additionally, whenever you are hit by a melee attack, you may use your reaction and spend 1 Ki point to give the attacker disadvantage on the attack. If you cause the attack to miss in this manner, you may make an unarmed strike against the target at disadvantage as part of the same reaction. In addition to this, whenever you're moving you may add your Dexterity modifier to your armor class, on top of what you already add.
Silver Tongue
At 6th level, the Monkey King teaches you how to be the most charismatic and persuading person in the room, every time. You can bend people to your will by saying just the right thing in the right way. You gain proficiency in Persuasion and Deception. You may expend a Ki point to gain advantage on any Charisma skill check you make. Additionally, you learn how to cast the spell Charm Person once per long rest without expending a spell slot or using components.
Fluid Motions
You learn how to incorporate dancing into your motions in combat, allowing you to dodge even the most precise of attacks and even appear to be having a grand old fun time in the middle of combat. You may use an action to add your Charisma modifier to your AC for one turn. While your AC is increased in this way, your attacks have disadvantage and your movement is halved.
Disciple of Sun Wukong
By 17th level, you've been taught all the tricks of Sun Wukong, the Monkey King himself. Besides the *top* secret ones he keeps for himself, of course. The best tricksters always keep the best secrets to themselves. At any rate, you gain the ability to clone yourself. You are able to create illusory duplicates of yourself. You may have a number of these clones active at a time equal to your Charisma modifier. To spawn a clone, you must pluck a hair off your head and let it fall to the ground while expending 3 ki points. This takes one action. A clone then spawns where the hair fell. Details on the clones are below.
Your clones follow these parameters:
- They have hit points equal to your monk level + your Constitution modifier
- They have the same ability scores and proficiencies as you.
- They spawn with illusory copies of your equipment, but they cannot use it.
- They can take actions in combat and roll their own initiative, but only have one attack: Punch; +10 to hit, 1d6+5 damage. They otherwise can use your monk features.
- They have an armor class equal to yours at the time of their spawning.
- They have your thoughts and memories as of their spawning. From there, they learn and act on their own, with your own personality. They are friendly to you and follow your orders, but if pushed too far can become independent.
- They last for a number of hours equal to your Constitution modifier.
