Base Class: Bard
Bards of the College of Recording can record, remix, and mimic sounds they come across. Through their magic, they create amazing music based on their collection of sounds. These Bards are known for their raves, and dance parties. But their most impressive feature is their ability to record, counter, and redirect spells. These bards are often referred to as wizards' bane.
Remimicxing
3rd-level College of Recording feature
You gain the Mimicry trait. You can accurately mimic sounds you have heard, including voices. A creature that hears the sounds you make can tell they are imitations only with a successful Wisdom (Insight) check against a DC of 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier. You can even remix these sounds pitching them up or down, speeding them up or slowing them down, or splicing them with other sounds you have recorded. You can use this ability during your performances.
Record Spell
3rd-level College of Recording feature
In combat, as a reaction, you can expend a Bardic Inspiration die to record a spell that another spellcaster has cast within 60ft of you. The spell recorded must be of a level you can cast. If you record an upcasted spell you only record the spell at its base level. However, you can upcast the recorded spell if you have higher spell slots. The recorded spell counts as a bard spell for you but doesn’t count against the number of bard spells you know. You can use this ability outside of combat. You know the recorded spell until you start a short rest.
At 14th level, You know the recorded spell until you start a long rest.
Say It Better
6th-level College of Recording feature
You learn the Counterspell spell, which doesn’t count against the number of bard spells you know. Whenever you successfully counter a spell, on your next turn you can choose to cast the spell you countered at the same level it was cast once per day, recharging at Dawn. If you choose to use this ability again before the next dawn you can expend spell slots equal to the level of the spell countered to cast the countered spell. The countered spell can't be upcasted. You lose the ability to cast the countered spell at the end of your turn whether or not you cast it.
Left Speechless
14th-level College of Recording feature
You now have the ability to mute the spellcaster you counterspelled. When you successfully Counterspell a spell, its caster has the effects of the Silence spell placed on it. However, unlike the Silence Spell, this effect does not have a radius and only affects the target. The target is also not immune to thunder damage like in the Silence spell. This effect lasts until the end of the target's next turn.
