Base Class: Monk
Monks of the Way of Balance master the art of harmony, seamlessly shifting between offensive and defensive stances to adapt to any situation. Their training focuses on the duality of existence, allowing them to embody the contrasting forces of balance.
Yin-Yang Stance
At 3rd level, whenever you use Flurry of Blows you change between Yin Stance & Yang Stance. Each stance grants different abilities and lasts until you change stances or finish a long rest.
- Yang Stance:
- Tranquil Aura: When you use flurry of blows, you and your allies within 10 feet gain temporary hit points equal to your level + Wisdom modifier.
- Yin Stance:
- Eclipsing Shadows: When you use flurry of blows, you turn all your unarmed strikes until the end of your turn into ranged attacks with a range of 20/60 feet. If the attack hits, the target must make a wisdom saving throw, or the target's speed is reduced by half until the end of your turn.
Flowing Duality
At 6th level, your mastery of the Yin and Yang stances improves.
- Yang Stance:
- Serene Presence: Allies within 10 feet of you have advantage on saving throws against being frightened or charmed.
- Rushing Radiance: When you use step of the wind, your allies gain up to half their movement speed.
- Yin Stance:
- Piercing Gaze: You can see through magical darkness and have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks.
- Rushing Shadow: When you use step of the wind, all enemies within 30 feet have disadvantage on all attacks of opportunities until the beginning of your next turn.
Harmonious Defense
At 11th level, your ability to blend Yin and Yang stances while defending becomes seamless. When you use Patient Defense, you gain additional benefits based on your current stance:
- Yang Stance:
- Calm Reflection: When you use Patient Defense, you and allies within 10 feet gain a bonus to AC equal to your Wisdom modifier until the start of your next turn.
- Yin Stance:
- Intimidating Glare: When you use Patient Defense, choose one creature within 30 feet. That creature must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier) or be frightened of you until the start of your next turn.
Perfect Equilibrium
At 17th level, you achieve perfect balance between Yin and Yang, harnessing their combined power. When you use Stunning Strike, you gain additional benefits based on your current stance:
- Yang Stance:
- Healing Strike: When you successfully stun a creature with Stunning Strike, you and allies within 10 feet regain hit points equal to your level + Wisdom modifier as a calming wave of positive energy flows within you and your allies.
- Yin Stance:
- Crippling Strike: When you successfully stun a creature with Stunning Strike, all other creatures within 10 feet take damage equal to your martial arts die +Wisdom modifier as an explosive aura of negative energy flows to all who oppose you.
