Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

The Harmonious Blades is a revered martial tradition that embodies the delicate balance between good and evil, harmonizing the forces of offense and defense through the mastery of the Dao sword, cutlass, or scimitar. Rooted in ancient philosophies, practitioners of this path, known as Harmonious Blades, seek to achieve perfect equilibrium within themselves and the world around them. Their training is not only physical but deeply spiritual, emphasizing the importance of inner peace, mindfulness, and the seamless integration of body and spirit. They believe that true mastery comes from understanding the interconnectedness of all things and moving with the natural flow of energy.

This tradition traces its origins to legendary warriors who meditated on mountaintops and in tranquil groves, honing their skills under the guidance of enlightened masters. These warriors learned to channel their inner chi, achieving feats of agility and precision that seemed almost supernatural. The Harmonious Blades use their skills to maintain balance and harmony, whether by protecting the innocent, righting wrongs, or seeking personal enlightenment. Their techniques are a dance of grace and power, reflecting their profound connection to the principles of balance and harmony, making them both formidable in combat and serene in their purpose.

Initiate of Balance

Inner Chi: You gain a pool of Chi points equal to your Wisdom modifier + half your Fighter level (rounded down). These points can be used to fuel various abilities:

  • Chi Dodge (1 point): Use your reaction to impose disadvantage on an attack roll made against you.

  • Chi Strike (1 point): Add your Wisdom modifier to the damage of your next melee weapon attack.

  • Chi Recovery (2 points): As a bonus action, regain hit points equal to 1d10 + your Fighter level.

Disciple of the Blade: Your proficiency with Dao swords, cutlasses, or scimitars is unmatched. When wielding one of these, you gain a bonus to attack and damage rolls equal to your proficiency bonus. Additionally, their attacks score a critical hit on a roll of 19-20.

Sky Dancer: You gain the ability to move with incredible agility. You can take the Dash action as a bonus action, and when you do, you can move across vertical surfaces and liquids without falling during the move.

Armorless Guardian: When you are wearing light armor or no armor, your AC equals 10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Wisdom modifier.

Master of Equilibrium

Blade Adept: Your mastery over your Dao sword, cutlass, or scimitar allows you to channel your spirit into it. Their attacks count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.

Dance of Blades: You can use your action to make a series of rapid strikes. Make a melee weapon attack against any number of creatures within 10 feet of you, with a separate attack roll for each target.

Steadfast Sentinel: You have advantage on saving throws against being knocked prone or moved against your will. Additionally, you gain proficiency in Wisdom saving throws.

Harmony Seeker

Deflecting Strike: When you are hit by a melee attack, you can use your reaction to deflect the blow, reducing the damage by 1d10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Ranger level. If you reduce the damage to 0, you can immediately make a melee attack against the attacker as part of the same reaction.

Harmonious Spirit: Your deep connection to your inner self and the world around you grants you advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened.

Paragon of Balance

Perfect Balance: Your mastery of balance allows you to move effortlessly through combat. You can’t be grappled or restrained, and difficult terrain doesn’t cost you extra movement. Additionally, you can use your reaction to reroll a failed Dexterity saving throw.

Avatar of the Blade: Your connection to your dao sword, cutlass, or scimitar reaches its peak, transforming you into an avatar of martial prowess. Once per long rest, you can enter a heightened state for 1 minute. During this time, your speed is doubled, you gain advantage on all attack rolls, and your weapon attacks deal an additional 2d6 force damage. You also gain temporary hit points equal to twice your Ranger level. While in this state, you can make one additional melee attack when you take the Attack action.
