Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

The Weave flows through all things, living and nonliving alike. Born with the ability to see the Weave as others can see rain or snow, you’ve come to realize it flows in certain ways when certain creatures use it rather than just spellcasters. By studying and manipulating the unique Weave patterns given off by the different denizens of the realms, the Aethersoul Sorcerer is capable of replicating those patterns.

This subclass was created with inspiration from Final Fantasy's Blue Mage job class, and was made with a mind for balance and cooperation between the player and the DM. A lot of the possibilities this Subclass opens are up to the discretion of the DM. Remember, the Rule of Cool is just as important as ensuring people aren't more powerful than their party members. DMs, work with your players who want to try this class out. And Players, work with your DM to ensure everyone is having fun. Not just you.

Aetheric Mimicry

At 1st Level, your natural-born observational abilities allow you to observe and briefly adopt the knowledge and skills of those around you. As a bonus action, you can choose one creature within 60 feet of you that you can see. You can mimic one skill, weapon, or tool proficiency that the chosen creature has for 10 minutes. You must finish a short or long rest before you can use this feature again.

Weave-Sight

Beginning at 1st Level, you may make Arcana skill checks using your Charisma modifier, rather than your Intelligence. Additionally, when you roll a natural 20 on a Wisdom (Perception) check, you know the location of any magical effects within a 30 foot radius.

Perfect Replication

At 6th Level, you are capable of replicating a spell or spell-like ability* that was cast in your line of sight within 60 ft by a creature of a CR equal to half of your Sorcerer level rounded down (minimum of ½) or lower. This ability must use the creature’s Action, and cannot be a Bonus Action, Reaction, Legendary Action, or Lair Action. If the ability has a recharge, you must follow that same rule.

As an action, you may spend a Sorcery Point and attempt to replicate the ability. The target creature makes a Charisma Saving Throw against your Spell Save DC. On a fail, you may use that Spell or Spell-like Ability a number of times equal to half your Proficiency Bonus rounded up (minimum of 1). Any uses left are carried over when this feature is used again and are refreshed on a Short Rest. When a specific ability is replicated in this way, you cannot replicate it again until you finish a long rest. You can only replicate one effect at a time, forgetting the previous one should you use this Feature again or completing a rest of any kind. Psionics cannot be replicated.

When using a replicated ability, you use your spellcasting modifier in place of the creature’s to-hit modifier. When using a replicated ability that has an associated Saving Throw, the DC is replaced with your own Spell Save DC. The ability’s range, damage dice, damage type, and effects remain the same.

*What applies as a Spell or Spell-Like ability is at the discretion of the Dungeon Master. Discuss with your DM before using this ability in order to mimic an ability.

Watch and Learn

Beginning at 14th Level, you’ve taken your affinity for observing the Weave to new heights. Upon successfully replicating an ability with Perfect Replication, you may choose to keep that ability handy by spending a Sorcery Point. You may permanently store a number of abilities equal to your Charisma Modifier. Storing an ability in this way will end the Perfect Replication feature. If you wish to add a new ability but have reached your maximum, you may choose which ability to replace it with, permanently forgetting the previous ability.

In order to use a stored ability, you must spend a number of Sorcery Points equal to the CR of the creature the ability was copied from. If you have multiple abilities that recharge, that recharge on the same number, you can only recharge one at a time.

Upgraded Replications

Upon reaching 18th Level with this Subclass, you’ve become a true savant at replicating and mimicking the abilities of others. All replicated abilities gain additional bonuses. All damage dice are increased by two additional dice of the same type, and all save DCs for these abilities are further increased by 5.
