Base Class: Sorcerer
The Feywild is a fantastic place filled with fairies, dazzling displays of light and wondrous whimsy. There are those that have an inherent connection to it, infusing them with powerful magic at their command. Perhaps they were born in a place where the veil between the Feywild and the material plane was thin. Or maybe a powerful fey ancestor left the Feywild to explore the multiverse and, in doing so, introduced powerful fey blood into the likes of humanoids.
Fey sorcerers come in all shapes and sizes. They may be driven by the same wanderlust that drove their ancestor to explore other places, or perhaps they simply take comfort in the company of druids hoping to gain a better understanding about the source of their magic.
For your Fey Magic Sorcerer, roll on the Fey Magic Characteristics table or choose any options from it. The Feywild is a wild place, so come up with your own characteristics if none of these fit your character concept.
Fey Magic Characteristics
| d8 | Characteristic |
|---|---|
| 1 | Your eyes appear to be a beautiful sunset. |
| 2 | Your hair sometimes glows in the dark. |
| 3 | Your eye color shifts according to your mood. |
| 4 | When you sneeze it sounds like harmonious music. |
| 5 | You always smell like a crisp autumn day. |
| 6 | You have antlers that form a sort of crown on your head. |
| 7 | Flowers tend to bloom in your hair. |
| 8 | When you cast a spell, it only works when you speak Sylvan and it sounds as if you are giggling. |
Fey Magic
Your link to the Feywild allows you to learn spells from the druid class. When your Spellcasting feature lets you learn or replace a sorcerer cantrip or a sorcerer spell of 1st level or higher, you can choose the new spell from the druid spell list or the sorcerer spell list. You must otherwise obey all the restrictions for selecting the spell, and it becomes a sorcerer spell for you.
In addition, you can speak, read, and write Sylvan. You have advantage on all Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma saving throws against spells and magical effects and magic cannot put you to sleep. You automatically succeed on the saving throw to maintain your memory after leaving the Feywild.
You learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the Fey Magic Spells table. Each of these spells counts as a sorcerer spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of sorcerer spells you know.
Whenever you gain a sorcerer level, you can replace one spell you gained from this feature with another spell of the same level from the Sorcerer or Druid spell lists.
Fey Magic Spells
| Sorcerer Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 1st | disguise self, sleep |
| 3rd | misty step, suggestion |
| 5th | counterspell, hypnotic pattern |
| 7th | dimension door, polymorph |
| 9th | modify memory, seeming |
Bonus Cantrip
As a Fey Magic Sorcerer, you gain the druidcraft cantrip if you don’t already know it.
Eyes of the Beguiler
As an action, you gaze into the eyes of one humanoid you can see within 30 feet of you. If the target can see you, it must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failure, you have advantage on all Charisma ability checks directed at the target for the next 10 minutes provided that they aren’t already hostile toward you. If a target’s saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, it is immune to this effect for the next 24 hours. You can do this a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Protective Spirits
Starting at 6th level, your connection to the Feywild allows you to summon fey fairies to protect you. As a bonus action, you can spend 3 sorcery points. For the next minute whenever you are hit by an attack, roll a d6. On a 5-6, the attack instead misses you, as you teleport to a location of your choosing within 15 feet that you can see. On a 1-4 you take damage as normal.
Feyward Path
Your connection to the Feywild allows you to find refuge there. Starting at 14th level, once per week, you can cast plane shift to travel to the Feywild without any material components required. Alternatively, you may use this feature to return to the Material Plane, but only if you are currently in the Feywild.
In addition at 18th level, you may choose to reduce or increase the Time Warp effect by one step on the table outlined in the DMG on page 49. You may not go beyond the options listed on this table.
Fey Reprisal
Starting at 14th level, you have learned to turn the tables on your enemies. Choose one of the following effects:
- Magical Absorption. If you successfully use counterspell, you may absorb the spell's energy, converting it into a number of sorcery points equal to the spell's level. You may exceed your normal maximum number of sorcery points, but your point total resets as normal when you take a long rest.
- Master of Charms. As a result of resisting a charm effect, you can use your reaction to redirect it towards the creature trying to charm you. The DC for the check is equal to your spell save DC.
- Arcane Retribution. If you take damage as a result of a successful attack roll or because you failed a saving throw against a spell, you can use your reaction to cast a spell. The spell must have a casting time of 1 action and must target only the creature that dealt damage to you.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
Avatar of the Fey
Starting at 18th level, you can spend 6 sorcery points as a bonus action to gather the magic of the Feywild, transforming yourself into an avatar of the fey. While in this form, you gain the following benefits:
- You gain truesight out to a range of 30 feet.
- You are immune to being charmed or frightened.
- You gain resistance to all damage dealt by spells and magical effects.
- You can use your bonus action to either turn invisible until the end of your next turn or teleport to a location within 90 feet to a location you can see.
You remain in this form for 1 minute. It ends early if you are incapacitated, if you die, or if you dismiss it as a bonus action.
