Base Class: Bard
Bards of the College of Abjuration are learned in the art of protection, creating shields and auras of magical energy around allies. Bards of this college are similar to Wizards of Abjuration, having learned the magic through vigorous study. However, they often cast spells more flamboyantly and with extravagant gestures or movement.
Bonus Proficiencies
When you join the College of Abjuration at 3rd level, you may double your proficiency bonus in your spell save DC (maximum 8).
Quick Save
Also at 3rd level, you learn how to use your Abjuration skills to protect others in times of need. When a creature you can see within 40 feet of you makes an attack roll against any friendly creature besides yourself, you may use your reaction to expend one use of Bardic Inspiration, rolling a Bardic Inspiration die and adding the number rolled to the friendly creature's AC. You must use this feature before you know the outcome of the roll. If the attacking creature rolls a natural 20, the effect of this feature is instantly negated and the friendly creature's AC is returned to what it was previously (this occurs before the DM states whether the attacker succeeds or fails). After the attacking creature does damage or misses, the friendly creature's AC is returned to what it was before.
Accomplished Abjuration
At 6th level, you learn one Abjuration spell of your choice from any spell list. A spell you choose must be of a level you can cast, as shown on the Bard table, or a cantrip. The chosen spell counts as a bard spell for you but doesn’t count against the number of bard spells you know. Additionally, once you have reached 6th level, your base AC increases by 1.
Heroic Blessing
Starting at 14th level, when you cast any spell targeting a friendly creature, you may expend one usage of Bardic Inspiration. Roll a Bardic Inspiration die. The friendly creature that is the target of the spell gains temporary hit points equal to the number rolled. Each friendly creature can only be the target of this ability once per day.
