Artificer
Base Class: Artificer

A Stormsmith follows the ancient techniques handed down by dwarven blacksmiths over generations. They incorporate the unmatched fury of a raging storm into their creations, and channel that energy to destroy their foes.

Bonus Proficiencies

When you adopt this specialization at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with smith's tools. Additionally, if you do not have it already, you gain proficiency with warhammers.

Stormsmith Spells

Starting at 3rd level, you always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Stormsmith Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don’t count against the number of artificer spells you prepare.

Stormsmith Spells

Storm Conduit

Beginning at 3rd level, when you finish a long rest, you can touch a weapon you are proficient with to turn it into your Storm Conduit. The weapon gains the following benefits:

  • You can use your Intelligence modifier for the attack and damage rolls made with the weapon.
  • You can use the weapon as your spellcasting focus.
  • You always know the location of the weapon as long as it is on the same plane as you.
  • The weapon can't be taken from you against your will unless you are unconscious or dead.

Thunderous Attacks

Starting at 3rd level, when you hit a creature with your Storm Conduit you can choose to subject it to one of the following effects. You can only do this once per turn.

  • The creature takes an additional 1d8 thunder damage or lightning damage. (Your choice)
  • The creature must succeed on a Strength save against your spell save DC or be pushed back up to 10ft.
  • The creature's next attack roll against you is made with disadvantage as the strength of your blow disorients them.

Extra Attack

Starting at 5th level, you can attack twice, rather than once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.

Master of Storms

Starting at 9th level, you gain resistance to thunder and lightning damage. Additionally, any weapon holding one of your artificer infusions deals an extra 1d4 thunder damage with each attack.

Improved Conduit

Starting at 15th level, your Storm Conduit is improved to gain the following benefits:

  • You can choose two Thunderous Attack options per turn, but not as part of the same attack.
  • The weapon deals additional thunder damage equal to your Intelligence modifier.
  • You gain +2 to your AC when wielding the weapon.
