Base Class: Wizard
The Numerology wizard is a master of spellcraft. Whether it be their own or someone else's magic, there is no aspect that they cannot shift. This knowledge of the numbers of course extends into probability, as numerology wizards have the ability to shift the likelihood of certain actions. Eventually growing so powerful as to hold the ability to succeed or fail in the palm of their hand.
Formulaic Knowledge
After a spell is cast within eyesight, or you are affected by a spell you didn't cast, you may spend your bonus action to ask one of three questions
- What Schools of magic can this spellcaster use?
- What is the highest level spell this spellcaster can cast?
- What is the source of this magic (e.g. what class are they/did it come from the item)
Erm... Try Recalculating
You may spend your reaction to force the caster to either add or subtract 1d6 from either a damage roll, or an attack roll. You must use this feature before the attack is rolled if you wish to effect the attack roll, and before damage if you wish to effect the damage roll. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus.
Variable Shift
As a Reaction, you can halve or double a spells duration, casting time, area, or range whenever a spell is cast within eyesight. You can use this feature once per long rest. When affecting the area of a line, you are doubling it's length, not it's width. (ex. Lightning bolt is a 100ft x 5ft line. Doubling or halving Lightning bolt's area would result in a 200x5 or a 50x5 foot line.)
Statistical Manipulation
Starting at 10th level, choose one friendly creature within eyesight. Until the next long rest, that creature treats 18's 19's and 20's as Critical Successes. However, this creature also treats any number below 5 as a Critical Failure.
The Numbers Don't Lie
As an action, you may determine whether or not a creature within eyesight fails or succeeds it's next roll. This counts as a minimum possible rolled number, and never counts as a critical success. You may use this ability twice per long rest.
