Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Many who would be called barbarians are spurred by the raw power of their emotions; chiefly rage. Some, however, channel that power not just through their bodies, but their minds as well. Known as Ardents, these warriors can project their own emotions outward to inspire legions and smother their enemies in despair, all while holding their own on the front lines of battle.

"Surrounded? All I am surrounded by is fear, and dead men."

—Ubryn Heart-hewer, human Ardent

Assume Psionic Mantle

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, your unbridled mental power allows you to attack an opponent's mind and body at the same time, opening them up to attacks from your allies. While you are raging, enemies within 10 feet of you cannot use the Disengage or Dodge actions. Additionally, allies within 10 feet of you can deal extra psychic damage with their melee weapon attacks when they hit an enemy who is also within 10 feet of you. This extra damage is equal to your Rage Damage bonus, and an ally can gain this benefit only once per turn.

Violent Mind

Starting at 3rd level, your rage spurs your mind beyond its normal limits, allowing you to burrow into others' thoughts. While raging, you can speak telepathically to a creature within 10 feet of you. When speaking telepathically to a creature within range, you have advantage on Deception, Intimidation, and Persuasion skill checks targeted at that creature. You don’t need to share a language with the creature, but the creature must be able to understand at least one language. This ability does not allow the target to respond telepathically.

Thought Shield

Beginning at 6th level, you manifest a defensive psionic aura while raging. When you activate your rage, you can also choose to use the burst of psionic power within you to cast Intellect Fortress on yourself without requiring a spell slot or any spell components. This instinctive casting of the spell does not require concentration, and you cast it as part of the bonus action used to activate your rage. The spell lasts until your rage ends.

At 14th level, you may choose instead to cast Mind Blank on yourself when you activate your rage. If you do so, allies within 10 feet of you gain the effects of Intellect Fortress while you are raging.

Constitution is your spellcasting ability for this spell.

Argent Soul

Beginning at 10th level, your soul burns with psionic might and inspires your allies to follow suit. At the end of your turn, you and every ally within 10 feet of you gain temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus plus your Constitution modifier (minimum 1).

When you hit an enemy with a melee weapon attack on your turn while raging, you may choose to use your temporary hit points to deal extra psychic damage. If you do, you deal an amount of extra psychic damage equal to the number of temporary hit points you have at the time of the attack. You then lose all of your temporary hit points.

Phrenic Slayer

Beginning at 14th level, your psionic power manifests physically. When you or an ally within 10 feet of you deal psychic damage to a target that is immune or resistant to psychic damage while you are raging, you can choose to change that psychic damage into force damage.
