Monk
Base Class: Monk

The Way of the Azure Dragon emerges from the depths of obscurity, a path forged in the crucible of a chance encounter between a lost wanderer and a celestial dragon. It is a clandestine way of life, known only to those who stumble upon its secrets, their existence veiled in mystery and whispered rumors.

Amidst the swirling mists of a treacherous fog storm, a lone wanderer found themselves ensnared in a labyrinth of uncertainty, with no path forward and no hope of escape. It was in this dire moment of need that the azure dragon appeared, its majestic form cutting through the haze like a beacon of guidance. With the wisdom of ages in its eyes, the dragon led the wanderer safely through the tempest, imparting upon them the knowledge and strength needed to survive.

In the wake of their encounter, the wanderer emerged from the fog transformed, a silent guardian blessed by the azure dragon's wisdom and protection. Clad in a mask and cloak, they wandered the land as a silent sentinel, their presence a testament to the power of the celestial realm.

As time passed, others found themselves drawn to the path of the azure dragon, their footsteps guided by the silent whispers of the guardian's legend. Each new disciple added their own chapter to the story, honoring the legacy of the first guardian and carrying forth the mantle of protection and guidance for those lost in the darkness.

Though the Way of the Azure Dragon remains hidden from the eyes of the world, its influence echoes across the land, a testament to the enduring power of courage, compassion, and the bond between mortal and celestial.

Dragon Kick

At 3rd level, monks of the Way of the Azure Dragon gain access to the Dragon Kick technique, allowing them to deliver powerful strikes infused with the celestial energy of the azure dragon. By spending 1 ki point, the monk can unleash the Dragon Kick.

When executing the Dragon Kick, the monk's kick deals damage equal to their Martial Arts die to the target of their attack. Additionally, the target must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw against the monk's Ki save DC (8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier) or be knocked prone and pushed 15 ft., if the target succeeds, they get pushed by 5 ft. but remain standing.

Dragon’s Tail

As a monk of the Way of the Azure Dragon, you gain access to the Dragon's Tail feature at 3rd level. By spending 1 ki point, you can unleash the spectral power of your strikes to attack again in combat.

When you land a melee attack, you can use Dragon's Tail as a reaction. This allows you to make another attack with the spectral form of your strike (weapon/unarmed), dealing additional force damage equal to your Martial Arts die.

Extra Attack

Beginning at 6th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.

Dragon Dance

At 6th level, monks of the Way of the Azure Dragon gain access to the Dragon Dance feature, representing their mastery of astral martial techniques. Once per short rest, for a duration of 1 minute, the monk can tap into the power of the azure dragon, enhancing their physical abilities in combat.

During the Dragon Dance, the monk gains the following benefits:

  • The monk’s attack roll (d20) counts as a critical hit if it lands on a 20 OR a 19 for as long as this feature is active. At level 10, rolling an 18 also counts as a critical hit.
  • You can change the damage type of any unarmed strike you deal to force damage, as your strikes are infused with the energy of the azure dragon.
  • You can attack three times when you use Flurry of Blows instead of twice for the duration.

Dragon's Essence: Azure

At 11th level, you gain the ability to channel the essence of the Azure Dragon once per long rest, manifesting its power through your ki. As a bonus action, you can spend 3 ki points to enter the Dragon's Essence.

Azure: Blue flames envelop your body, empowering your strikes with swiftness and precision. While in this state, you have advantage on all melee attack rolls, saving throws, and you are resistant to bludgeoning, slashing and piercing DMG. These effects last for 1 minute.

Dragon’s Fangs

Your strikes, fueled by the essence of the Azure Dragon, become devastatingly lethal when you achieve a critical hit. Upon landing a critical hit with a melee attack, you may activate your Dragon's Fangs feature as a special action. The force of your blow unleashes a surge of draconic energy, causing the target to suffer additional damage equal to your monk level.

Azure Dragon’s Wrath

At the pinnacle of your training, you unlock the ultimate manifestation of the Azure Dragon's power. As an action, you can channel the essence of the Azure Dragon to become an unstoppable force of destruction for 1 minute. During this time, you gain the following benefits:

  • Your melee attacks deal an additional 1d10 force damage.
  • You have resistance to all damage except psychic damage.
  • You gain a flying speed equal to your current walking speed.
  • Once during this duration, you can unleash as an action, a devastating Dragon's Roar, forcing all creatures of your choice within a 30-foot cone to make a Constitution saving throw against your monk spell save DC. On a failed save, they take 20d10 force damage and are knocked prone. On a successful save, they take half damage and are not knocked prone.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
