Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

For some Barbarians who have been put through the test of the Nordic regions, a revelation occurs on the brink of death. Some vision occurs to them, or a god takes pity. Either way, they rise anew with knowledge of the ancient art of the Viking bestowed upon them, a duty not to be taken lightly. The vision and powers bestowed vary depending on the person, however. Gods tend to be ironic with their selection of knowledge - if a barbarian is near death due to their lust for blood, the gods may bestow upon them ancient defensive secrets.

Warrior of Midgard

When taking this subclass at 3rd Level, you further specialize your talent in battle into one of three major archetypes. Each archetype gains unique benefits based off their weapon selection.

- Footman: When using a light or martial weapon in one hand and a shield in the other, you gain a +2 to damage rolls with your weapon.

- Skirmisher: When dual wielding, you may add your ability modifier to the damage of your off-handed weapon.

- Brute: When wielding a two-handed weapon and while within 10 feet of two or more hostile creatures, you gain advantage on attack rolls.

Gjallarhorn

While raging, as a bonus action, you may let out a battle cry so that creatures near you gain the a benefit depending on your chosen archetype:

- Footman: Friendly creatures within 30 feet of you (including you) gain a bonus to Armor Class equal to half your proficiency bonus rounded up until the beginning of your next turn.

- Skirmisher: Friendly creatures within 30 feet of you (including you) gain a bonus to Damage Rolls equal to half your proficiency bonus rounded up until the beginning of your next turn.

- Brute: Friendly creatures within 30 feet of you (including you) gain Temporary Hit Points equal to twice your proficiency bonus. When using this feature multiple times, the temp HP does not stack.

Viking Adept

At 10th Level, your experience in battle has taught you new techniques. You gain the following benefit depending on your Viking Archetype:

- Footman: When you are the target of an attack, you may use your reaction to give yourself a temporary boost to Armor Class equal to your proficiency bonus. You must be using a shield to receive this bonus.

- Footman: When wielding a simple or martial weapon in one hand and a shield in the other, you gain a +2 bonus to attack rolls made with that weapon. In addition, the damage bonus gained in "Warrior of Midgard" increases to +3.

- Skirmisher: When raging and attacking using your off-hand, you may attack twice with it. You must be dual-wielding light or simple weapons to gain this bonus.

- Skirmisher: When a target within your melee range misses you with an attack roll, you may make an attack against them as a reaction.

- Brute: When using Reckless Attack, you may reroll one of the attack dice.

- Brute: When you hit a target with a weapon attack and while raging, you may expend either your reaction or bonus action to cause the target to suffer additional damage equal to your Constitution modifier.

Nordic Hero

At 14th level, you learn your final Archetype feature. You gain the following benefits based off of your Viking Archetype:

- Footman: You gain a +1 to Armor Class when using a shield. When raging, you may use your bonus action to make a single attack. This attack does not gain a bonus from your Ability Modifier, but it does gain the +3 damage bonus from previous buffs.

- Skirmisher: While raging and while dual-wielding, as part of your attack action, you may trade one of the attacks for a cross-slash with both of your currently wielded weapons. Make a single attack roll, and on a hit, the target takes 1d8 slashing damage plus any regular bonuses to damage.

- Brute: While raging, at the beginning of each of your turns, you heal for damage equal to your Constitution modifier.
