Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

GutBusters are the special Battlerager shock troops of the BattleHammer Clan. These dwarves wear spiked plate armor rather than the normal spiked leather armor. They prefer to use their wrestling/brawling type fighting style and charging with their heads down to utilize the 1' helmet spike. GutBusters like to grapple their opponents or knock them prone and proceed into a seizure like fits shredding their enemies with their spiked armor. Though they will use normal dwarven weaponry they always prefer their armor. Interestingly they get their name not from any type of combat technique but, from the special alcoholic drink they make that they call GutBuster. To any but dwarves this is the most horrible tasting swill ever concocted by dwarves. However to a dwarf there is no better beverage.  The most famous Battlerager was Thibbledorf Pwent.

Note: Search------> GutBuster Battlerager Armor to add my custom armor for this class and also Gutbuster (Drink of the Gutbuster Brigade) for the drink that gives them their name both in the Homebrew magical item category.

Restriction: Dwarves Only

Only dwarves can follow the Path of the Battlerager. The battlerager fills a particular niche in dwarven society and culture.

Your DM can lift this restriction to better suit the campaign. The restriction exists for the Forgotten Realms. It might not apply to your DM’s setting or your DM’s version of the Realms.

GutBuster Battlerager Armor

When you choose this path at 3rd level, you gain the ability to use spiked armor (see the “Spiked Armor” sidebar) as a weapon.

While you are wearing spiked armor and are raging, you can use a bonus action to make one melee weapon attack with your armor spikes(the gauntlets have 4, 6" spikes) against a target within 5 feet of you, dealing 1d4 + STR modifier piercing damage.

On the breast and back plate there are 8, 3" spikes. When you use the Attack action to grapple or if you get grappled, the target takes 2-8 (2D4) piercing damage if your grapple check succeeds. Each round the grapple is held use your attack action to roll 2-8 (2D4) piercing damage again.

SPIKED ARMOR

Spiked armor is a rare type of Dwarven half-plate armor made by dwarves. It consists of shaped, interlocking metal plates to cover most of the wearer's body. These plates are covered with spikes. A suit of half-plate includes spiked front and back breast plates, spiked gauntlets, spiked heavy leather boots, an open face helmet w/ 1' long spike, spiked greaves attached w/ leather straps and thick layers of padding underneath the armor. Buckles and straps distribute the weight over the body.
