Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

You are of two worlds, parallel but divided. The Border Ethereal is a transient state that mirrors our Material Plane, as well as many others. It serves as a planar gateway - if you venture far enough, you could end up on any plane in the cosmology. Its swirling mist reveals the plane it overlaps with muted colors and blurred edges while concealing its own inhabitants. Gravity is merely a suggestion here, and planar magic permeates the air. Through extraordinary circumstances, either at birth or from later events, you have been imbued with this magic. You feel the tug of the Ethereal Plane inviting you to explore beyond your physical restraints, and the meaning of "home" will never be the same.

Ethereal Magic

Starting at 1st level, you learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the Ethereal Spells table. Each of these spells counts as a sorcerer spell for you, but it doesn't count against the number of sorcerer spells you know. These spells can’t be replaced when you gain a level in this class.

Spectral Sight

Starting at 1st level, your planar connection allows you to peer across the edge. As an action, you can elevate your vision between planes. For 1 minute, you can see into the Ethereal Plane, and you have advantage on ability checks and saving throws to detect visual illusions, all out to a range of 60 feet. This effect ends early if you fall unconscious.

You can use this feature as a bonus action when you reach 10th level in this class. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Intangible Essence

Also at 1st level, your bodily form is partially incorporeal: you have a +1 bonus to AC.

Planar Jump

At 6th level, you can bend planar space around you to instantly travel to a nearby location. As a bonus action, you can spend sorcery points to teleport to an unoccupied space you can see. This space must be within a number of feet of you equal to 15 x the number of sorcery points spent, and the maximum number of sorcery points you can spend equals your proficiency bonus.

In addition, immediately after you teleport on your turn by any means, you can harness that momentum to propel you in battle. Until the end of your turn, your movement speed increases by 10 feet and the next attack roll you make has advantage.

Ethereal Duality

At 14th level, the Ethereal Plane becomes a familiar face. You learn the Etherealness spell, but it doesn't count against your number of sorcerer spells known. You can cast it at its lowest level without expending a spell slot and without providing verbal or somatic components. When you cast it in this way, its duration becomes 1 minute, and you must complete a short or long rest before doing so again.

In addition, if you die on any plane except the Ethereal, you can choose to have your body fade out of existence and reappear on the Ethereal Plane.

Phase Shift

By 18th level, you have honed your planar abilities to become instinctual. As a reaction when an attack roll is made against you or when you are forced to make a Dexterity saving throw, you can spend 4 sorcery points to quickly shift onto the Ethereal Plane. You must choose to do so before knowing the outcome of the roll, and you return to the Material Plane at the end of the current turn. If the space you return to is occupied, you are shunted to the nearest unoccupied space. While on the Ethereal, you are immune to all effects and damage from the Material except force damage.
