Base Class: Fighter
Those who choose the life of the Vindicators are those who seek the path of avenging the innocent and putting an end to the evil that plagues the world. They believe in their shield as much as they believe in the laws they uphold, using their shield with such finesse that it becomes considered a weapon in it's own right. By deflecting blows aimed at themselves and those who surround them, Vindicators don't just invite their foe to fight them, they demand it. For the shield is not just a piece of armor to be worn to match a set, it's a way of life. Found in the front lines of every battle, and sang in the history of ages, races of every creed and background, give the respect that's due to a Vindicator when they bring their shield to bear.
Shield Slam
When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, Vindicators are able to gain a bonus action to perform a bonus attack using their shield, this attack does 1 D4 plus your constitution modifier. The damage dice increases to 1D6 at 7th level, 1D8 at 11th level, 1D10 at 15th level and 2D6 at 20th level.
Actions of Valor
Starting at 3rd level, you gain the ability to use a bonus action to ready a reaction from the following list in order to come to the aid of your allies. You get 3 actions of valor regaining all charges after a long rest.
Intervention (reaction)
When you use Intervention, you may hold a reaction allowing you to move all of your movement to intercept the next attack/Multiattack or direct spell used on an ally within your movements range. When you do, roll a d20 and add your strength and constitution modifiers. Reduce the amount of damage done by that amount, the rest goes to you instead of your ally. This gets another D20 at levels 9, 15 and 20. The attacks you intercept go against your ac instead of the original target's including multi attack. If this occurs with a spell attack and it's reduced to zero, you reflect the spell back attack at the caster using an attack roll plus your constitution modifier.
Intimidating Shout (bonus action)
When you use Intimidating Shout as a bonus action, all enemies currently in combat gain disadvantage on their next attack rolls made and can not move from their current position in any direction that would put them closer to the Vindicator until their next turn.
Into The Fray (bonus action)
When you use Into The Fray as a bonus action, You gain an additional 30 feet of movement and can pass through targets and dealing shield slam damage as you impact with them while adding your strength modifier as well. This movement will not provoke strikes of opportunity. A target can not be struck multiple times during this maneuver. Requires two actions of valor.
Defensive Finesse
Whenever you score a critical strike with an attack, you strike with such precision that you disarm your opponent. If your target has no weapons or is already disarmed the target has disadvantage on it's next attacks until it's next turn.
Seasoned Veteran
Having braved the fields at the head of the army, you find yourself always able to rally yourself when a battle starts. Whenever you start a combat and you have no Actions of Valor left, you regain one use to use in that combat.
Hold the Line
At 10th level, you become a master of locking down your enemies. Creatures provoke an opportunity attack from you when they move 5 feet or more while within your reach, and if you hit a creature with an opportunity attack, the target’s speed is reduced to 0 until the end of the current turn.
The Best Defense
You learn to strike your target with your shield without compromising your defense, allowing you to use your Shield Slam ability as 1 of your attack actions in addition to the bonus action. In addition, whenever you score a critical strike with your shield, you can use an Action of Valor without expending a charge.
A Good Offense
Starting at 18th level you can now add your strength modifier to your Shield Slam attacks plus the AC your shield contributes as damage. Additionally, when you a kill a creature with an attack, you gain 10 temporary hit points for up to two turns.
