Base Class: Fighter
Dragoons are fighters who specialize in polearm weapons and can leverage their extended reach along with the fighter's agility to perform maneuvers that enable them to both evade damage and deliver powerful blows to enemies. They can fight enemies at a distance and from beyond the reach of many foes.
Dragoons are also masters of jumping and as such can jump far greater distances and heights than other fighters. Along with their polearm, this enables them to deliver attacks from the air which deal increased damage at 7th level.
At 18th level, you also become proficient in land vehicles and gain a trusty steed, as well as proficiency in lances to enable mounted combat.
Jump Attack
Melee attack, uses an action, range 10 feet.
Requires Polearm (glaive, halberd, pike, or spear) type weapon. Weapon, if versatile, must be wielded with both hands to use this ability.
Character jumps high into the air and delivers their attack to the selected opponent at the start of their next turn. Until the start of their next turn, the character is in the air and cannot be hit by melee attacks. Ranged attacks or magical attacks with a minimum range of 100 feet may be able to hit the character, causing them to fall and the attack to fail in addition to dealing damage or applying an effect as normal, as well as leaving them prone at the start of their next turn unless the jump attack was a critical hit in which case they cannot be targeted. When successfully delivered, add the character's Dexterity modifier to the damage dealt by the jump attack.
Enhanced Jump
A dragoon is a specialist in aerial combat and has enhanced jumping skills compared to other fighters. As a dragoon, you can jump further and higher than others.
Dragoon Polearm Mastery
When you take the Attack action and attack with a glaive, halberd, pike, or spear, you can use a bonus action to make a melee attack with the opposite end of the weapon. This attack uses the same ability modifier as the primary attack. The weapon’s damage die for this attack is a d4, and it deals bludgeoning damage. If the weapon is versatile, it must be wielded with both hands.
While you are wielding a glaive, halberd, pike, or spear, other creatures provoke an opportunity attack from you when they enter the reach you have with that weapon.
Excellent Evasion
You add an additional [roll]1d4[/roll] to any Dexterity saving throws.
You may add your proficiency bonus to any Dexterity check that doesn't already use your proficiency bonus.
Dragoon Polearm Proficiency
Dragoons are proficient in the use of glaive, halberd, pike, and spear as well as with tridents.
Master Rider
Dragoons get proficiency in riding horses as well as in using lances which are most often used while engaged in mounted combat. You own a trusty steed, which you can ride.
