Battlemagus

Not all wizards spend their lives studying ancient texts in old libraries. There are some that choose to study the art of battle. Often frowned upon by their peers, these students of combat thirst for a more up close and personal filled adventure.

Battlemagus wizards thrive in the thick of battle where they can attack, defend, and retaliate against anything foolish enough to think them an easy target, mixing spellcraft with their martial styles. Devoting their studies to the art of swordplay and battle magic, these warriors stride boldly onto the front lines, their martial prowess bolstered by mystical bonds. 

Warrior Mage

Starting at 2nd level when you select this school, you gain proficiency in 2 martial weapons of your choice. You may use these type of weapons as a spell casting focus. You also gain proficiency with light and medium armor, as well as the Athletics skill.

Arcane Attacks

Starting at 2nd level, your can add your Intelligence modifier to all melee attack rolls, as your magic now becomes infused with your weaponry and attacks. All melee attacks are now considered magical if they are not already.

Additionally, on a critical hit, your attack becomes infused with arcane power and you deal an extra 3d6 force damage to the target. The critical hit will also ignore all resistances. 

Extra Attack

You can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn. Moreover, you can cast one of your cantrips in place of one of those attacks.

Arcane Force

Starting at 10th level, when you hit a target with a melee attack, you can choose to expend a 1st level spell slot to cause an additional 2d6 force damage; this increases by 1d6 for every spell slot you expend beyond the first (3d6 force damage if you expend a 2nd level spell slot, 4d6 if you expend a 3rd level slot, etc.)

Elemental Onslaught

At 14th level, you have mastered the art of imbuing your weapon attacks with elemental magic. You may use a bonus action to add 3d6 fire, cold, or lightning damage to your next attack.
