Base Class: Warlock

Founded by the archdevil Dispater, the magic of enchanted body art is both powerful in arcana and powerfully binding. Many patrons will materialize these modifications as "rewards" while some others may task their warlocks with making their own. Regardless, the art rarely strays from iconography of the patron or ancient magical sigils. Consider what specific symbology or charms best represent your patron when settling on the appearance of your art.

Expanded Spell List

The Artist of Flesh lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.

Apprenticeship

To begin the path of the Artistry of Flesh, you must choose a school of art to begin with, each providing its own benefits.

Artistry of Ink- You adopt a large tattoo coursing with arcane ink that will shift to defend you. When you are unconscious, all attacks on you have disadvantage and you may cast Shield without expending a spell slot while unconscious.

Artistry of Steel- You take on a symbolic piercing that attunes you to magic auras around you. Unless concentrating on another spell or effect, you are always casting Detect Magic. In addition, when you are damaged by a spell or magical affect, you may use your reaction to reduce the damage by 1d10 once, recharging it on a short rest. This increases to 2d10 at level 5, 3d10 at level 12, and 4d10 at level 17.

Stigmatolocation

At level 6, There is as much magic in the points on a warlock's body as there is the symbology they wear. Choose 3 options from the list below, gaining the corresponding benefit. You may adorn these points with tattoos or piercings regardless of location.

Lip- When you speak, you may choose to make your words audible to only one creature in your eyesight, silencing them to all others and obscuring them from lip readers.

Tongue- You may cast Silence without expending a spell slot once, recharging this ability on a short rest. 

Eye- As a bonus action, you may perceive through a willing creature's senses for up to an hour, or until you end the effect, which requires no action.

Nose- You can activate moments of extreme clarity using a bonus action. Once per short rest, you may gain the following benefits for one minute:

  • When you roll a perception check, you can treat a roll of 14 or lower as a 15
  • You cannot be surprised

Hand- Your unarmed attacks deal 1d4+ your charisma modifier in damage, and the damage is magical.

Chest- Your vitality is bolstered; Your exhaustion level is permanently one lower than it should be, and you can double your movement speed once, recharging this ability upon completing a short rest.

Navel/Torso- Gaining an iron (or ink) stomach, you become immune to ingested poisons or toxins, and you can eat any material as sustenance with no ill effects, provided you can chew and swallow it.

Leg- Grounding yourself through your art, you gain 10 feet of Tremorsense.

Release the Pain

Starting at 10th level, You gain the ability channel the ritualistic agony of your binding art and exude it unto those around you. You may use an action to choose a number of your arts from Stigmatolocation and Apprenticeship. For each piece of art you choose, you channel more destructive energy; the table below shows the spell you cast depending on the number of art pieces you invoke. You also lose the feature of all arts you chose, as they are violently ejected from your body. You regain them over a long rest.

Friendly Icon

Starting at 10th level, your patron has bestowed on you the image of a fearsome companion with artistic liberties. Choose a beast of CR 5 or lower. You may summon it under your command as an action with the following alterations.

  • Choose a damage type that is represented by your icon. The creature's attacks deal extra damage of that type equal to your warlock level.
  • The beast has half of your hit points. If it dies, it may not be summoned again until you take a long rest.

Magnum Corpus

Starting at level 14, the benefits granted to you by Stigmatolocation are enhanced, and you may choose an additional location and add its benefits for both Stigmatolocation and Magnum Corpus

Lip- You may cast Mass Suggestion once without expending a warlock spell slot, regaining the use of this ability on a short rest. You may expend a warlock spell slot to cast this spell again.

Tongue- You may now cast Silence, Tongues, and Dragon Breath at will.

Eye- You can cast Eyebite once and the target has disadvantage on the save. You regain this ability on a long rest.

Nose- You no longer need to breathe. In addition, you may make a Headbutt melee attack, adding your proficiency bonus and charisma modifier to the attack roll. On a hit, you deal 14d6 bludgeoning damage and the target must make a constitution saving throw or be stunned until the end of its next turn. You may use this ability once, regaining it on a long rest.

Hand- You can cast Bigby's Hand or Telekinesis without expending a spell slot once, regaining this ability on a short rest.

Chest- You can pump the heart of another, infusing them with adrenaline. As an action, you can make a creature run double its movement speed in a direction of your choice. (Optionally, you may chant "Evil Spell Come Back")

Navel/Torso- Your attunement with your body allows you to be hyper aware of the location of your vital organs and even some control over it. Any critical hits dealt to you are effectively normal hits.

Leg- You master movement, and you may now cast Earthbind, Levitate and Spider Climb at will. (When casting Earthbind, you may chant "Evil Spell No Jump!"

Additionally, expending all 5 artistries with Release the pain causes you to cast Fire Storm.

Additionally, you may change your friendly icon into a beast of CR 7 or lower.
