Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

There are stories of great and mighty creatures achieving exploits so astounding that they defy belief. Barbarians that channel their rage to perform such astonishing feats walk the Path of the Tall Tale, tapping into a wellspring of primal power that allows them to do the unthinkable, achieve the impossible, and challenge the unconquerable.

Barbarians that walk this path are larger-than-life, often choosing to display this boldness openly through their attire and personalities. Some are heroes of the people, using their abilities to defend the downtrodden, while others blaze their own path, forging their legend with every step they take.

Renowned Skill

You have honed one of your talents to the pinnacle of ability. Choose one skill or tool. You gain proficiency in that skill or tool if you don’t already have it, and your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check that you make utilizing this proficiency.

Bold Claim

You make an outlandish claim that boasts of your abilities. As a bonus action, you may select one skill or tool. For the next 10 minutes, each time that you make an ability check with the chosen skill or tool you add your Rage Damage bonus to the roll.

Once you use this feature, you must finish a short or long rest before you can use it again.

Audacious Challenge

Challenging an opponent’s mettle, you goad them into a legendary fight against you. When you enter your rage, you can choose to curse a creature within 30 feet of you that can see or hear you. This curse lasts for the duration of your rage. While cursed in this way, the following effects take place:

  • The cursed target can’t willingly move further away from you unless it has dealt damage to you this turn.
  • Any damage the cursed target deals to you is reduced by an amount equal to your Rage Damage bonus.
  • Whenever the cursed target deals damage to you or misses you with an attack roll, you can use your reaction to laugh in its face. The creature must succeed on a Charisma saving throw (DC equal to 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus) or become flustered by your daring laughter, taking psychic damage equal to your barbarian level and gaining disadvantage on the next attack roll, ability check, or saving throw it makes before the end of its next turn. A deafened creature automatically succeeds on the saving throw.

Marvel of the Masses

You push yourself to impress onlookers with a marvelous feat. As a reaction whenever you make an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, you can gain a bonus to the roll equal to the number of creatures within 30 feet that can see or hear you.

Once you use this feature, you must finish a short or long rest before you can use it again.

Absurd Ability

You gain a new strange power birthed from legend, channeled from the primal forces of your rage. You learn any one spell of 5th level or lower. Your spellcasting ability for this spell is Strength and you may cast and concentrate on this spell while you are raging. Casting this spell extends your rage as if you had made a weapon attack against a hostile creature.

You can cast this spell once per long rest, regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest. If you have no uses remaining you may expend one use of your Rage feature to cast this spell again.

Whenever you gain a level in barbarian, you may swap out this spell for another spell of 5th level or lower.

Unlimited

The power of your rage pushes you beyond all mortal limits. When you enter your rage you can choose to empower one Ability Score with unlimited primal power. For the remainder of your rage, the value of that Ability Score increases to 30. While empowered in this way, you take 5 necrotic damage whenever you make a roll using this Ability Score, as your body suffers trauma from pushing beyond its limits. Concentration checks do not trigger the necrotic damage. The necrotic damage can’t be mitigated in any way and it can’t reduce you to lower than 1 hit point. Whenever you take the necrotic damage, you can choose to stop this feature (no action required). Stopping this feature does not end your rage.

You can empower your rage in this way once per long rest.
